Move. Leave. Get the hell out. Exit, stage right even. The whole joint's going to an authoritarian hell in a socialist hand basket. The legislation may not pass This time, but it will come. And it will come from private industry. And we will beg and plead for it. We will throw away our freedom for the illusion of safety.

Dark (boring) times ahead but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, just read that bikes will not be affected.

Not to get political in any way or pick on anyone's political ideals.
If/When the UK leaves the EU.
The new bikes we get here will be like they have always been .
The same as the rest if Europe made to the same spec except for speedo's and headlights with possibly the odd special model but they will be the exception the run of the mill standard bikes will be just like the rest of the EU gets .
The French were mega determine to bring in a 100bhp limit a few years ago but mainly down to the UK and Italy it was knocked back .
If/When we leave we won't have a say over EU rules anymore .

Lots of cars, Porsche / VW etc already have it installed.

The tech is already installed at the factory. It's set quite low for "transport mode".

Shifting hundreds of cars straight off the wharf a base model Golf is much faster than a Porsche GT3RS,   a 1ltr Kia Picanto is way faster than both of them.   The restricted cars drive totally normal at low speeds and just hold back at a pre set speed.

Arent some trucks and Bus's already speed restricted  ?

When the Busa was restricted, they set the B-King about 40mph lower.

As Seth said...  ^

AU is a quite small market. Very few vehicles are built just for us or our specs.

In comparison to the EU, the UK is the same.  If the EU gets speed restricted vehicles then either they will send similar spec vehicles to the UK, or.... the soft cocks in power will decided it's a good idea anyway and in the public's safety.  I don't remember anyone in the past pressing for the introduction of seat belts or crash helmets but it rolled on in.

Someone will come up with a hack to override the restriction, always do where there's a 'need'.

I'm sure they will. 2 of my bikes were speed restricted, now neither are.

The difference will be it's not currently illegal to do.

Wouldn't be hard to imagine a time when high speed gets you a ticket, and another one for an illegally modified vehicle, and another for being in-insured.  Cops and government live tickets, insurance love a cop out clause.
