Title: Motorcycle shoes/short boots suitable for work?
Post by: VladTepes on Monday, 25 February 2019, 09:48 AM
I'm looking to get a set of shoes (or ideally short boots) which look Ok for work but are still an actual hard wearing motorcycle boot offering protection and the ability to walk for reasonable distances in comfort.

So what do people know of?

These are some that I have been suggested:

TCX Metropolitan Motorcycle Boots. "They look fine and are ideal for riding".
https://tcxboots.com.au/product/metropolitan-black/
$299 ouch ! esp. as may be not waterproof.

TCX Hero
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d92qyiD0MSU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTDb4Cg0QIQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-iD9fEXidQ

link (https://tcxboots.com.au/product/hero-waterproof/)
link 2 (https://www.amxsuperstores.com.au/road-gear/boots/cruiser-boots/road-gear/boots/street-boots/road-gear/boots-road/street-boots/tcx-hero-wp-boot?cPath=8_399_400&)
Brown only   $379. OUCH !!!!!!!

Dainese Anfibio Cafes.  "a serious motorcycle boot that will protect your feet and ankles in a crash and just happen to look stylish".

https://www.mcas.com.au/shop/item/dainese-anfibio-caf-boots
Not waterproof. $230

Alpinestars Twin Motorcycle boot. "Waterproof, has built-in ankle protection and an integrated shift pad, but looks like an every-day shoe.
(aka Alpinestars Oscar Twin Drystar)

Can't find these anywhere so they've either been discontinued or just aren't imported to Australia  :whatever:

Icon Super Duty 5 Motorcycle Boot. "combines laces with a buckle closure for security. They look pretty neat too".
note: Not waterproof.

Anyway imported from US they'd be around $310 which is way too much for those.

Some other possibilities perhaps:

Alpinestars SMX-1 R
https://www.mcas.com.au/shop/item/alpinestars-smx-1-r-boot-black
(not waterproof I don't think) $220

RST Roadster Classic Boot
https://www.amawarehouse.com.au/road/mens/boots/rst-roadster-classic-boots.html
https://www.amxsuperstores.com.au/road-gear/boots-road/street-boots/road-gear/boots/rst-roadster-classic-boot-black?cPath=8_399_400&
$250. Not waterproof. The Roadster 2 seems to be the better option.

RST Roadster 2 Classic Boot
https://www.amawarehouse.com.au/road/mens/boots/rst-roadster-2-classic-ce-wp-boot.html
$250 waterproof lining and membrane

Again won't really pass as a work show but look like a great pair of riding boots.
would be more comfortable than my existing boots (these are not as high).

RJays Urban boots
https://www.mcas.com.au/shop/item/rjays-urban-boots
waterproof, $150.
can't really pass as a work shoe, but would be more comfortable than my existing boots (these are not as high).

TCX X-Blend Waterproof Black
similar to the Hero but cheaper at $300 due to 'vintage leather' (no shine) and lace-up only.

You're looking for motorbike boots that will pass as a work / office shoe?  Big ask Mike.  Bike boots are made for riding not walking all day in them.

Just leave a pair of shoes under your desk & swap when you get to work. Bung the boots back on when you go home.

Ya don't really want to spend all day in an office wearing riding gear do ya?  You'd wear it out inside rather than riding.  Although, a Kevlar back protector could come in handy in some offices  . . .
