Title: Swingarm movement
Post by: bikerface on Friday, 11 January 2019, 12:19 AM
Hi All

Long time no write?
I  only come on here when I want something
Anyway getting the bike ready for its MOT I noticed that the swingarm is rocking a bit backward and forwards, about 5MM
Now is this likely to be bearings or bushing?
Its on rocking on the left side (as you look at the back of the bike)

Any ideas cheers

That sounds a lot of movement
Could be the bearing .also a few bikes have had problems with the bearing housing cracking/splitting on the actual swingarm .
Either way is be getting it apart asap and having a good look

I'd agree with @seth. Sometimes it can just need re-greasing to take up the slack but 5mm is a heck of a lot of movement.

Only way is to take the swing arm out and have a good look, as, as mentioned, some of the housing's have been known to crack.

I had a cracked swing arm which I discovered quite by chance when I had removed it to fit an endless chain..
Photo says it all.
