Title: Bike show, the good and the not so good.
Post by: Mick_J on Tuesday, 11 December 2018, 07:53 PM
The good.

Tonight at 9 o'clock there is the start of a new bike show on ITV 4, there are three shows in all and the first is all about Triumph, tomorrow it's about Norton and on Thursday it's all about Ducati.

The not so good.

It's presented by Henry Cole.

I'm  just not keen on Henry Coles presenting style .
A couple of friends met him and he's not like you see him on tv thinking he was to good to chat and when he eventually did he talked down to then, the folk he was with we're spot on and talked like they we're just like real folk.
This was at Bonneville at speed week a couple of years ago.
It's a strange think how when you meet famous folk they more often than not are disappointing.

Seth you mentioned 'being talked down to'.
The missus has a friend whose son damaged their car. It was so close to being written off or as l would say in this case uneconomical to repair. I called in some favours from insurance assessors and a valuer to keep it alive as much had been spent by the family on it.
Husband of said wife's friend pulled a "l'm just gonna blast them and get things underway" stunt on me. I fixed the car but have never spoken to him since. Tosser !!

Just watched the program about Ducati. They started out making radio components. So how come they had such a reputation for bad electrics?!!!!!  ???

I thought it was on older ducatis that the electrics were iffy. Surely modern ducatis should be better electrics?
Any ducati owners out there?

Had an 80's Ducati with crap electrics but the modern bike are fine, I'll let you know if my 1200s Monster has any electrical problems but so far it's been perfect.  Ducati seen to be as reliable as any other makes these days.  I met a chap who has had the ignition barrel, seat lock and fuel filler cap replaced on his late 2017 Thuxton the other day, he was considering changing to Ducati next.
