Morning everyone

At the weekend I removed my fuel tank and fuel pump assy, considering the bike has only covered approx 2000 miles in the last four years the inside of the tank was in very good condition which was a nice surprise, so after cleaning out the filters I reassembled and refitted, the bike started first try and sounds sweet.

One thing that has slightly concerned me is that there is no breather/drain hose fitted to the underside of the tank although there is a steel pipe tail which I assume the hose would connect to

Could someone let me know if there is supposed to be a hose fitted or not please? I have had a look underneath the bike and there is only one hose hanging by the centre stand which looks to be the air box drain line which has a plug inserted in the end

Not sure if it makes any difference but the bike is a very early 2001 model K2

There is supposed to be a hose, 95cm long 6mm inner dia. It goes between airbox and right frame beam and ends right next to airbox drain hose. Be very careful when putting tank back, make sure the hose is not pressed and blocked othetwise you'll let water in tank while washing the bike and ruin "inside tank nice suprise".  Don't ask me how I know :smoke:

Only time you'd have a problem is if you park the bike when brimmed full of fuel more so if on the side stand .
I'd get a bit of pipe the correct size and restore the hose as you never know and it's better to be safe than sorry

That hose was also missing on my K2. It is right to be concerned about this as this hose will guide the fuel to a safe location in case of overflow. Without it the petrol drains over the engine/electrics. You can get the expensive original drain hose (Part# 44423-42F01). To prevent it from getting lost again I used a zip-tie as a clamp. You could use a generic hose instead BUT the OEM is less likely to get pinched because it is preformed at the connecting end. Whatever you use, make sure it is not blocked (see post from mlivkovich above).

Many thanks for the replies, I seemed to remember having to prise the hose off before I removed the tank on a previous 1400 some years back

Fortunately I run a Hydraulic Hose Business so have plenty of different hose types in stock, will see what will fit best and replace the missing hose  ;)
