Today i tried an LED Headlight globe. Ballast on its rear with inbuilt fan. Very bright, impressive. Fitted in shell ok. Rubber dust/water seal wouldnt fit without modification. I think that is totally necessary but i left off for trial. Ran it for just 15 mins, not a hot day. No airflow inside headlight shell. My feeling was it was just getting too hot. On a hot day on long run it would scare me. Now back to normal H4, experiment over.
Yes i have read on other forums about these globes and the general consensus was they ran very very hot and the fan was completely usless , but that is only what ive read i dont have any experience with them my self but i would think anything producing that much heat can not be good for other components .
No problem with the ones I recommended
@grog. I even sent a set out to
@VladTepes (as
@Hooli uses them here in the UK ok), so may be worth checking with him how he found them
I've not had an issue & there are two big holes in the back of the headlight bowl for air flow.
They run a lot cooler than the HIDs I've used previously.
Yep HID's suck.
