When I pull my 'bars hard right at very low-speed, the headlight goes out.
When I back off the steering, it comes back on.
It is a standard 2007 model with no modofications.
Is this a common problem?
Thanks
Not a common problem.
Sounds like you have a fault with either the loom going into the headlight or a connection in the headlight.
Best way to check is
Give the loom a slight pull about and see if the light goes off and on again .
It'll be a lose plug somewhere.
Can be a pain to find but keep at it and you will find it .
There's a headlight cutout on the starter button circuit too - I did have some interesting blackouts that were resolved by pulling the right switch block apart, cleaning and reassembling.
Might be another possibility.

If all else fails, 3 left turns = a right turn. 😜
Try removing the headlight and having a good look at what moves around in the shell when you apply full lock, see if you can see any loose plugs and make sure nothing is shorting out. Do not rest the headlight directly on your mudguard if you put power on.
Maybe a loose earth ?
Plug not pushed onto the bulb tightly enough?

Ditto! Last work on mine was removing headlight to lube ignition key and found 2 or 3 plugs with white powder. Had no electrical problems but I obviously cleaned them with electrical contacts cleaner. Have a look at them plugs, they can catch a lot of water.
