Title: HD engine shine
Post by: Speedy1959 on Wednesday, 26 September 2018, 05:34 PM
Well I tried the HD engine shine and to be honest I have washed it off!
Why?
Because it leaves a shiny but sticky surface that the road dust clings to.

So for me its a superficial spray on instant beautifier thats quite temporary.

I left it on a week and it remained sticky !

Never use owt like this. Anything that leaves a 'film' will be a dust/dirt magnet. Some swear by WD40. Tried it. Dust magnet. I swear by Mr Sheen. Spray on. Wipe off. Engine gleams with no sticky residue. A quid from ASDA too. Result.

S100 works really well, not a dust magnet at all. Mr Sheen, great product. Have done my wheels with it for years. Its basic ingredients are kerosene, silicon and perfume. Also contains a clear protective oil. Just changed my wheel cleaning process, Penrite Wheel Cleaner, same as Meguairs. Spray on, leave a while, no rags required. Amazing how nice.

Read somewhere that HD brightener is made by S100. Anybody seen any difference between s100 and HD ? I was thinking of S100.

I used some HD Engine Brightener recently and just spotted this thread. I sprayed it on left it for a few minutes then wiped off the excess. Just went out to check it and it's not sticky at all and still jet black where it was applied.

I take great pride in maintaining, cleaning and polishing my two bikes (GSX1400 K2 obviously in the best blue and white livery and by far fastest model along with my 1976 Commando Interstate MK3) for which I have a vast array of cleaning and polishing products. However, until today I have never tried SDoc100 colour refresher. So many reviews have said it's fantastic although very expensive and to be honest I've always been pleased with cheaper products I have to enhance the finish of my bikes engines. But last week I found it on offer on EBay and thought hey Ho give it a go. Fxxking hell this stuff is amazing and absolutely makes the two engines look better than new. Some say it's sticky but once you run the engines and get them warm it dry's completely. Incredible stuff🤗😍🤗

SDoc stuff is brilliant, often seems expensive but in reality for the job it does and the amount used I find overall it works out cheaper in the longer run

I'm not as posh as you, I use lidl washing up liquid and I don't polish but I do dry the bike off properly before putting it away.
