Looks like summer is over as the first autumn storm hit us today in scotland .
I'm just hoping everyone is safe and ok and the leaves stay on the trees till after the Scottish meet up .
A bit?...If i had any hair... . It would have done a perfect imitation of a dandelion
@Blubber it might blow some of that hair from your beard to your head :stir:
But seriously be safe out there I think you've not got the worst of it yet .
A beard comb over
West coast of Scotland is getting a hammering...
We had 80mph winds on the tay bridge in Dundee earlier but it's dropped a lot mow and the bridge has just reopened to cars.
West as had much worse than us on the east side.
Update the highest speed gust of wind was 102mph on the tay bridge earlier.
Could be worse Seth... think of those poor buggers in the phillipines! I would mention the US as well but I blame Trump for that.... he's taken credit for everything else :whistling:
Just mean don't be stupid here .
When it gets that bad in poorer/under developed parts of the world it mean take care or you'll get hurt the big powerful states near by should be helping thier poorer neighbours.
:furious:

It will have calmed down to a light breeze by then lil4399. :)
I'm down in Manchester just now so I've missed it all. My neighbours will probably have had to collect my rubbish bins from the end of the street.
Rubbish bins do seem to be particularly aerodynamic :rofl2:
I read today that council workers in Glasgow were out yesterday in the high winds..... using a leaf blower... :rofl2: unbelievable.....

Irish descent maybe?
Leaf blowers are pointless anyway, you still have to pick them up later.
We have one, got it years ago, it has a blow function & a suck & mulch function. Ya blow the leaves into a pile, put it on suck & it's like a vacuum cleaner, sucks them all up & mulches them into a bag underneath at the same time. Empty it into the compost heap. Sucking up stones & bits of wood buggers the mulcher, but it still puts them all into the bag.
I wish everything had a blow & suck function ;) :whistling: :smile2:

Not if you blow them over to the neighbours. :whistling:

Leaf blowers i detest. they sound horrific, just blows your mess to be someone elses. i have two of them, never use. hose or broom.
A couple of trees down here, lucky house and out buildings not hit.
Chainsaws sharpened and ready to go.
Lots of nice stacked firewood for next year then Irish?
ARH
I love cutting it, it's the stacking that worries me.
I hope no one suffered too much damage from the storm.
I was lucky commuting wise as I rode over to Bristol on Sunday evening. I did 4 night shifts but stayed Bristol side with my Dad, finally riding back over the Severn bridge and home on Friday morning..It was a bit gusty, but I by far missed the worst of it luckily.
Took a chance for a ride out in wales yesterday, got caught by a couple of showers but the wind was a constant companion and tried to shove me around a bit which probably looked a lot worse than it was, just kept away from the kerbs to give myself a margin of safety. Only down side it took over an hour to clean the bike last night.
