Title: Gear indicator.
Post by: Mick_J on Wednesday, 22 August 2018, 10:33 PM
Just had a SEPP gear indicator delivered and it comes with everything in a bag but the pins are not inserted into the supplied plug.  Unfortunately the wires on the indicator are Red, Black and White and the plug has three holes open to insert the wires into it but the corresponding socket under the seat has Orange/Green, Black/White and Grey/Red wires.  Does anyone know which wire goes where?  Does anyone else have this type and can send me a picture of the plug/socket showing the wiring?  I cannot find anything in the wiring diagram which shows the service/diagnostic connector which I need to plug into.

Do you know what the 3 wires are for? (I'm guessing Red is +ve, black is -ve and White is for neutral (as in goes to neutral switch?))

What socket under the seat are you referring to? My old GiPRO plugged into a 3 pin socket under the LH side panel, which had blue, pink and black/white?

Can you put a picture up of the plug under the seat you are referring to as I can't get it into my head which one it is. Also if you have a link to where you bought it, so we can see what it is you are referring to, as I can't find a Sepp Gear indicator when I google it or look on eBay (as I was hoping to find a manual or instructions for what each wire does)

No idea what the wires do, this is the one I bought and it shows the plug attached, but others on show it with just the wires and plug separate as I have it.  I have contacted the seller but thought this might be quicker.

It should be a triangular 3 pin plug, not a square 4 pin behind L/H side panel..That's what the GiPro connects into.

The service/dealer mode plug is under the seat next to the battery. Maybe the one you have connects to that, but not sure how it'll work as that one is a 6 pin plug with only 4 wires used  :confused1:

If you read the installation instructions on the eBay ad (far right of all the pictures, if you scan along), then it says it plugs into the dealer mode plug? Really?

Myself I would not be happy with that at all, as Froudy says, ones like the GiPRO fit into the triangular plug under the LH side panel, which as far as I am concerned is where it should connect.

Personally I'd send it back for a refund as not fit for purpose/ doesn't fit and buy a known make rather than a Chinese unknown one (sorry)

Had a reply from seller about fitting pins correctly, works a treat.  It does fit into the 6 pin dealer plug under the seat.

Will be really interested to see how this holds up as that was a cracking price and I am sick of looking for 7th gear...

@mjgt - could you post up what the wiring is please, as if others want one, they might find it useful

That one won't work for K2-K(?) as the diagnostic (dealer) mode connector is different and only has 2 wires.
