It's been mentioned in a couple of previous threads.
Brand new old bikes.
Maybe sat in dealers warehouses, often bought by collectors not riders.
Seen a few recently, and a couple of places / sites specialise in them.
I find them interesting, both in good and bad ways.
Nice there are new unmolested examples to me seen and shown, but the price is often a bit of an eye opener, and I've heard horror story's of them turning into money pits when on rare occasions folk actually use them.
I still find them interesting though.
A brand new RC30.

Nice to see there are gems like this out there, way over my price limit.
A mate of mine bought a Buel Lightning like that 4 years after production it was found in a warehouse in Sydney 8 Buels only one red Lightning and he bought it instantly, delevered it in the crate up to his front door, the price tag was not as outragous as the above mentioned bikes. Think he payed 8-9k
Visited a good friend of my late father in laws today. Said he had sold his collection of lovely older bikes. Five went to the UK, one was an RC30. Every bike of his was mint.
This is my favourite new old bike site although they are brand new.

A mate of mine in Oz sold one on Ebay as new to a guy in Melbourne for $29000 that was a few years back.
I sold my 350 with a conrod hanging out the front for $2000 didn't have matching numbers.
The prices of bikes from the 70's and 80's have rocketed over the last few years..
Just take a look at Yamaha FS1E's, Kawasaki Z900's and 1100 Katanas for starters...Crazy prices!

Also a green frame 750ss, unlimited worth. was offered 50 th. bucks for it in 1996, imagine now. That Honda in crate, wow.

Yes. Not the early CBX I prefer, but the later faired version. Brand new in the crate. 1982 ish I think.
In 2009 i bought a brand new 2004 silver multistrada 1000 ds it was a great bike but i had to sell it when i moved to Scotland and i also had a 1997 blue TL1000 S with only 1700 miles on the clock , i had a colection of 11 bikes then sadly all gone now
Shanered, its sad we dont have those bikes now. 1973 Dad & I had modern bikes, gt550, gt750, 250 hustler,xs650 Yam plus at least 20 old bikes, Indian Scout, Ariel Red Hunter, BSA Gold Star, Many more. Those were in good nick, had others needing work. Were good times. Had a 1937 ULA Harley with sidecar, worth over 100 g todays money. Very rare as 1300 not 1200 and reverse gear.
some real beauties there grog :onya: ye it is a shame but times change and money is needed so things have to go , ive found if your going to buy colectables for your pension fund ..... wait till the kids are grown up and settled or you will never hang on to them
Not a bike, but brand new and old..... and not cheap!

Crikey ! A shame in a way as that means they are hardly, if ever, ridden.
I recall going to Italian bike shows in the late 80's and there'd always be one or two green frames turn up. Hardly ever see 'em any more.
Vlad, i used to do same shows in 80s. Burke st bridge etc. Usual show winner, 900ss, put it up on stand with mirror under. 7 yrs old, perfect nick, 212 th ks on clock then. Ill dig up a piccy. Not bad for unreliable desmo bevel drive. One of the best motors made, IMO. Sprocket seal, always weak point, replace in 30 minutes.
found it
Those were the days...
Another little story, sorry to bore you. Bloke near where i used to work, right next to beach. He has a last model Laverda Jota. Spare motor and exhaust. Just sitting in shed 20 yrs ago, going rusty. His story then, wont sell, ill do it up one day. Now, it hasnt moved, nearly rusted away, makes me mad, virtually beyond repair now. He still wont sell. What a waste. Couldve been a classic sitting in my shed.

I used to chat with the guy who created / invented the Jota. It originally didn't come from the Laverda factory. It was a 3C conversion done by the Slater Brothers in Colington near Bromyard. I used to often see and chat the Rodger (Slater).
This Laverda was owned by my Dad's neighbour about 10 years ago..Beautiful bike.
He sold it for big money and bought a Triumph Rocket. Personally I'd have kept the Laverda.
I love a Lav.

Back in the day we had a bike shop in thame called RF Seymours. He was an old school mechanic and racer ,in his showroom he had all his vintage bikes he had won races on at the Isle of Man. Any way the reason for this post is many moons ago two lads came in and ordered two Ariel square fours, paid their deposits. They were duly ordered and in those days the bikes were packed into crates un assembled and shipped to the dealer for assembly . The two lads for some reason or another never picked them up and there they stayed at Seymours . The family retired from the business and took them with them back to the Isle of Man and as far as I know they are still in their original packing crates, what they are worth now is anybody's guess. I think they qualify as "new old bikes"
Oh' and I forgot to say they had matching vin no's as well I'e abc123 , abc124
USD $50K that's a shit ton of money for any bike. Too much indeed.
Two square fours? Epic. When the rear cylinders overheat and kill the engine you have a spare bike to ride while rebuilding the first one...
Pretty much spot on there Vlad. Were certainly no good in Oz.
I don't think they were any good anywhere :confused1:
2000 vMax 0nly 8 miles from new - always wanted one awesome in a straight line but crap handling

I will put that V-Max in the category of love em or hate em. I was never a fan of the styling, but I fell in love with a B-King at first sight LOL.
