I loved the wire wheels and Norton colour scheme Was a cracker little bike.. It's the only vehicle of any kind I have bought new.
In any event that was back in oh about 1990 or thereabouts.
I had it for years until not long after I was in a long term relationship (just like a marriage) when she put her foot down and I was too young and stupid to say "get bent."
Would have saved me a good 15 years or so, but that's another story.
It survived (and obviously so did I) a couple of crashes in my custody.
I sold it on to my sister, who also crashed it. Fixed again. She sold it to one of her ex boyfriends who in turn sold it to ANOTHER of her ex boyfriends - at a $500 profit ! :)
So I now know who owns MY bike and that it is STILL GOING !
By god I'd love to own that bike again - bring it home - just for memories sake... :boogie2:
(I've no idea how much a CD250u is worth these days but Id have a stab at "not much")
wow either thats a massive big bike or that car is tiny
:stir:
My first bike was a Honda as well, a CB175.
@ vlad... let's test your memory: who put up a pic of Jason :imrgreen: :sarcasm:
And so began a 27-year long passion for anything with two wheels! :hat:

That was my third bike
First was a Raleigh Runabout
Second was a Honda 50 Cub
bumping this for fun BUT can anyone tell me if the photos still work? I may have to fix that.
No!
My first bike was.... Suzuki T 500 -73.
You started big T24, mine was a T250 (Hustler) Yours was a 500 Titan, yes?
Yes, it was 500 titan 1973, green/white, with HUGE torque (it was at that time).

@VladTepes No and (probably) yes. It is not a problem with the forum software but one with photobucket. There are extensions available for your browser to remedy that.
If you install one of these extension you will have a security problem on your hands. I just see that there are only two extensions left. The one from Jesse Evers can read and change all the data on the sites you visit. The kzahelg photobucket embed fix extension is the better choice as it can "only" read and change data on photobucket.com sites and wp.com sites.
first registered on road bike, we had a shed full of old english stuff, some worth a fortune now. first on road was a vh 1951 ariel red hunter 500. rode it for 2 yrs. fell off first day, great story, my first visit to fuel station, riding out, must rember to turn fuel tap on, grabbed plug lead, lots of spark, no more concentration, down i went. a big jarr to the new highway star. next was 250 hustler, then 550, then 4 of 750gt. lots more after them. only owned one bike i hated, 1973 norton 850 commando. 10 hrs work equalled a 1 hr ride. terrible bike. still have the workshop manual with my notes in it. totally un fixable. yes, i am and was a mechanic then.
First 3 were all Suzuki - good enough for Barry Sheene then good enough for me was part of the process then!
After that Kawasaki, then more Suzuki, Yamaha and back to Suzuki.
Had 2 Suzukis at the same time until 2 and a half years ago when I got my first Honda.
Took 38 years of biking for Honda to have the right bike at the right time for me - just how it worked out, never had anything against Honda
My 1st was a 50 cubic which I threw together from 2 donors. Rode well and was totally illegal. Cops got me when I rode one of the donors @ 15 without a license. The judge asked me if I would do this again (riding without license) and I said no with a smirk on my face. Got Zero fine for that lawless activity :happy1: Was the truth as I had turned 16 and received my license on my birthday
First road bike was Katana 550 photo attached. My mate and I did Sydney trip for Easter. Brisbane to Sydney non stop fuel only in 12 hours before the highway circa 1979.
39 years later I just couldn't do it even on my R1200RT se BMW.
Loads of memories and they all come flooding back. Thanks guys :worshippy: :worshippy:
1985 Honda vf750f interceptor, 1987 Gsxr1100 , 1997 TL1000S and now k2 gsx 1400 :smitten:
My first was also honda :onya:
I can see all the photos in this thread...But I have got that Photobucket "Fix" installed
@VladTepes :onya:
First road registered bike was a 1984
Suzuki TS 250x then a 1983 Honda vf750f.
First bike was a 1979 Kawasaki KX 80, then 1982 CR 125, 1983 CR 250 all motorcross/dirt bikes.
Honda CB175.... great little bike until it dropped a valve at 23thou miles on the rest and be thankful.... Followed by Honda CJ250 .... Honda 400 dream (with yoshi exhaust.... cracking bike) Honda 400/4, Honda CBR600.... then a big gap... another 400/4 as a restoration project... and now the big Suzi. To be honest.... I never really rated any of the early Suzuki's ... especially everything below 400cc. Paint and general finish always looked poor in my eyes. Even when I bought the 14.... I was looking at a big Honda...VFR or suchlike... but have to say the 14 surpassed my expectations and now I'm completely hooked 😁
ARH, you missed out discounting small suzuki.250 hustler and 350 rebel were just amazing. Only bikes with 6 speed gearbox early70s. Never had a prob with paint/ chrome. Could rev at redline all day, start first kick. Titan and 3 cyl just followed on. Rebel won the Castrol 6 hour 1972, against all comers. Got disqualified because the horn had been removed.

I haven't been impressed with some of the finish on the 14. Mostly the engine side covers and pillion foot rests. But hey, gives me something to work on. Nobody in the :clapping: crowd has noticed. Even my 87-year-old-lady-next-door-neighbor admires it.
Grog... didn't get into biking until 77.... so these were a little before my time 😉.... I recall stuff like the gt 250, X7 etc.... both 2 stroke rockets.... but then I was never a fan of 2 strokes.. smokey stinky things 😜😂😂

there must have been others back in my early days but didn't have them long .
I was part of a gang of local lads into bikes, trouble was I was by far the youngest. By the time (1976) I got my brand new Suzuki AP50 they had progressed to the 250 range and bigger. I got so fed up of being left behind on a route and arriving at the next smoke stop just as they were leaving lol.
Three months before my 17th birthday I put in for car and bike test. Bike test came through one week after 17th, borrowed mates Kwak KH250 and passed first time. Within a week I got a GT750 and was now leading the crew lol.
No wonder so many kids got killed in the 1970's, lost 3 mates myself.
You must have been smoking a whole pack 'till your mates caught up. :smoke:
My first was a British "Bitza" based around a Villiers 250T. At 14 it was in at the deep end on this monster (for then) cycle cross machine.
Learnt everything the hard way with each lesson costing 8 square inches of skin and half a pint of blood. Oh, and three conclusions and a fracture.
Later bikes included DT 125, XT 500, RD 400.
Then a long break whilst I did the car "thing"
Last bike Harley Sportster. Then retired early to France in 2015 and spent the last few years rebuilding old house, it's nearly finished (should be in Feb) then two weeks to 're roof the old bread oven house or, as it will be known, "Suzi's" :smitten:
RD125LC for me... loved that bike.
photos in OP updated
OP? wasn't he the lad in The Andy Griffiths Show?
Ooops, missed this thread somehow!!
My first 'bike' was a 50s-something Brockhouse corgi, like the one I did a resto on, I paid a fiver for it from a neighbor, & I used to go to & from work in 1962, I must has looked a right dipstick, but it was my ticket to the world!!
I don't know how I managed to miss this thread..Must be an age thing :imrgreen:
My first bike was a spanking new Kawasaki KE100 back in 1978..First one in the country at the time.
Just look at those boots and flares...And don't even mention the top box :rofl2: :rofl2:
Next came the Yamaha RD250DX...I even had hair back then too :boogie:
My 1st bike was a Gilera Enduro 50, funny how 80 or so bikes later I've bought another Gilera, a GP800
My son's first bike is a Honda... Mine was a RD250 aircooled back in 1980
My first serious road bike. I had ridden a Suzuki PE175 for 12 months on the road with dirt knobs :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated:
1st Yamaha fs1e
2nd 2 Suzuki AP50's

Don't worry about it Col, I see pics of people in the 70's and some laugh at the clothes ETC but I don't have a problem with them, they looked good at the time. What about kids today wearing pants that look like they've been shit in, lads wearing ear rings and makeup, fat birds wearing clothes two sizes too small. What will they think in 30 years time
True mate, true.
All true. In 70s had hair way down my back. Cant understand why i had long hair and rode, so much wasted time brushing out knots. Todays brushes slightly different, teeth, paint, clean wheels, not needed for no hair.
