Title: Tyre Valve Size
Post by: froudy on Tuesday, 24 July 2018, 04:59 PM
I want to fit some Ariete angled tyre valves next time I change tyres. I've got them on my Bandit and they make tyre inflation so much easier.
Just remember if you do fit some to angle them pointing to the right side of the bike!

Can anyone confirm the size please?
I'm fairly certain that they are 11.3mm but don't want to chance it and get the wrong size.

Thanks

I'm fairly sure too, I recall reading it on here somewhere recently. Think it was 11.2??

I had angled aluminium tyre valves fitted by the tyre fitter last time I got new tyres fitted.

Highly recommended mod.
The irony is that since I had them fitted 3 months ago my tyres haven't lost a single psi of pressure!
So ignore the scare stories put about that angled valves deflate your tyres!
I am speaking about the alloy ones I have... I couldnt comment on how good the plastic ones are.

Used to have those on my B-King - always had issues with them seating properly and they leaked slowly.

I now own an air valve extension which is just screwed on when filling and then removed.

Beaker..
That type of valve is supposed to be temporary just for ease of checking / inflating tyres.
They are NOT the permanent type I am talking about..
Mine was fitted at the time of tyre change from the inside !

Speedy, that's what Beaker is saying, as I read it. He is showing the pic of the air valve extension, that he is saying is screwed on when filling and removed.

I'm with you on this.
I had the standard valves, which slowly leaked, and tried the above screw on extension, which I found a pain in the arse in general and you always lost air when unscrewing it.
I had some quality aluminium angled ones fitted last tyre change too & they have been fantastic. Not losing any pressure at all and makes the checking process so much easier.

agree, the screw on extension is a pain. thrown in bin. will try the metal angled next tyre change.
