In an idea stolen unashamedly from another forum - what's the lamest personalised number plate you've seen recently?
Saw one this morning which I think is going to be hard to beat.
On a Mercedes C43 AMG Coupe ... " B RICH "
What a wanker...
If you are stuck for (mostly bad) ideas: https://www.ppq.com.au/inspiration
Hate to admit it, but I've got a personal plate on my car and on my Bandit. To be honest they are a lot of hassle when you come to change vehicles..Notifying DVLA etc...
I have one. It wasn't that expensive.
If I sell the bike it'll go with it.
On a 1300 B-KING
Lame? Tasteless?

dont have any. i hate the ones where numbers represent letters. i hate gsx14, because its not available. i really liked one on here recently, snapey from memory, oposite to dilligaf. i hate that dilligaf sticker.
Don't see the point or like them but I was tempted a few years back when X1400X came up.
GSX14 is on Rago's bike if I remember correctly
I dont mind them, its just the idiot ones like the one Vlad saw I hate and I hate the twat representing it
I have a one on my Shogun 3.2 lwb ... its just made up of my initials and fav number ... i got it coz the thing is so tidy nobody believes the age of it they all think its much newer than it is ! and i see no reason not to let them think that :whistling:

I think DesertFox bought that - before that I'm sure Lucky13 had it on his 14
It's still on his 14 I saw him a few weeks ago.
I had X500 BMW on the BMW X5 I owned a few years back. I had X5 HUH before that. Then decided it was all crazy and too much hassle so sold them both.
The one I do regret not buying (as it was going for a song - about £250 from memory) was K7 OCD when I had my K7, as it would have been appropriate (But read sentence above so I didn't)
Recently sold by a council was F1, went for a fortune, I saw it on a clapped out old council Volvo before it was sold - its now on a Bugatti Veyron I believe. I think it sold for over £250,000 or something like that.
well mine cost all of £120 and the £80 to change it over .... i would not pay much more than that just throwing money away !
I've been behind a Mercedes SL with the plate "P3N1S"!
Could imagine the owner?
We have joint personal number plates on our K6 gsx1400's
Only because we picked the reg numbers when we got the bikes new only 1 letter different between the bikes
Also one of my old gsx1400 was within 5 numbers of our bikes .
That bike now lives in the Newcastle area.

Not sure if that is the one that Steve Parrish used to own..............but I think that might have been PEN 15. Remember seeing it in the paddock at Mallory Park back in the 80's
A lot of people then said it was driven by a prick anyway so it was apt!! :jack: I will add he is actually an OK bloke.
Spotted a "fully sick" VT Commodore the other day with the plate "TOGTZA".
"TOG" is the Traffic Operations Group in the Victoria Police.
Thought this one looked dodgy :happy1:
Very dodgy indeed. :rofl2:
A year or so back I saw a black convertible Merc, top down, olive skinned fella with lots of 'bling' around his neck.
Number plate DRGDLR
Travelling to Gold Coast few years back saw open top big black BMW.
Bit sus male driver. Plate was "kilo".
Ive got a DEL number plate and I can explain the reasons for this extravagance
About 15 years ago I owned a minicab firm and had a local car dealer that would look out for cheap cars for me to use - I asked him to look for a high specification diesel Vectra Estate - about 3 weeks late he calls me - Del Ive got a car with everything you asked for and really good money . . . . . these is only one issue
I went to see the car was top of the range Vectra 2.2 diesel leather sat nav air con alloy - great colour . . . I was over the moon then I spotted the issue the Registration was something like SA51NOB
there was no way I was running around Glasgow with a NOB number plate so shelled out for the one I have now and still got it
the last time I changed it over it took several weeks to get it all done this time it was 20 minutes as its all automated now
A couple of years ago I was down South (ish) going to the Duxford air show with a mate..
A white Bentley convertible glided past with the most gorgeous blonde bit (girl) in it..
The Reg . . .
50 5EXY
She bloody well was !!!
My neighbours mate has "PLUM8R" on his work ute, and there was "OL M8TE" going around Brisbane.
Personal plates are cheaper here than the UK or southern states, there are 700,000 registered in Qld.
I tried the buy "GSX 13" off my mates Mrs but she wanted it on her GSXR, a 750 or 1000 not a 1300.
Last time I looked "TONY J" was still available (hard to believe but Nitrous isn't my real name!) but that was a bit expensive for my taste.
When I bought "13 KNG" I could have bought "BKING" but there was a huge difference in price. I'm not against personal plates, I just don't want to part with big money for one.
Good thing about plates here is its not just different letters, there are a huge range of colour options for both the letters and numbers and backgrounds and logo's, from football teams to cartoon characters etc.
Yeah mate I got one for the ute (UTE 130) coz it was $300 ish and not one of those $2500 ish ones... :)

In the 60s I was driving around Marble-Arch in London & a convertible Bentley came past with FU 2 plate, it was a well known
porn star who used to be in all the famous mens mags of the time, Fiona Richmond!!
About 20 years ago a dirty looking older bird (probably in her 50s then) was regularly seen around Brighton in an Astra ragtop with a plate something like '69 TOY'
A local here has exocet on his wifes car. Mercedes suv with 700 bhp at rear wheels. Very fitting. Yes ive seen it go.
Today... STAANG
On a Mustang, of course.
Yes, that IS a double A
Today: Sat behind "BY3 BYE". Might have been OK on a Porsche or Lamborghini but it was on a bland looking Honda Accord.
Also saw an earthworks truck with machinery on the back with "COMBOO" A truck with a bobcat and small excavator together is known in the trade as a combo, so I think that's as close as he could get. :whatever:
A work customer has diggers, earth works stuff etc. XCAVTE his plates.
VW Amarok with ERECT plate.
This is my toy.
And got the plate to match.
:boogie:
That really deserves a cool number plate thread, but there are so few it's not worth the trouble.
This isn't lame, but rather intrigues me -
I saw a Merc yesterday with the number plate ZAMBEZI.
In the same parking space today another Merc LIMPOPO.
I'd love to know the story behind that.
The limpopo was the name of a ship in a bond film possibly you only live twice.
:onya:
seth Perhaps you are conflating two ships...
the Liparus, owned by Stromberg in The Spy Who Loved Me
the Ning-Po in You Only Live Twice.
Both plates relate to South Africa
Limpopo - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limpopo
Limpopo is the northernmost province of South Africa. It is named after the Limpopo River, which forms the province's western and northern borders.
I was close .
Well spotted col
:google:
I guessed there would be a Qld 14GSX plate, and also guessed it would be gone! I was right on both counts. When I looked it up PPQ offered me "146SX" and "14G5X", not really the same, and not cheap at $2395 !
I did see "JADE XX" on a young lady's car on the way home from work today.

Surely not :whistling:

That I do know. So either they are from Sud Efrica OR they have a huge car collection and a big obsession with rivers generally....
Probably Saffers.
The Zambezi is famous for Tiger fish, the most fearse fish to catch for its size.
I never let common sense and good taste stand between me and purchasing stupid stuff.

Wife hates personal plates.
I haven't got one for my GSX14 or Hilux Ute yet but I'm not ruling it out....
My number plate is unique, just like everyone else's.
No I don't get the point of them either.

I only had personal plates on a vintage bike about 8 years ago, it was only about 100 dollars to set up and about 25 extra per year on registration. I have an idea they have upped the cost since.

Qld plates are more expensive but no annual fee.
I paid for my 13KNG plates in 2008 and they haven't cost me anything since.
I ticked "other" as my pet plate hate are the sad bastards who think their plate says their name (but deep down know it doesn't), so in tiny lettering underneath they put their name in full :jack:

It is if you want it on a car, not on a bike.
Yes that's the problem.
Not that I can justify 2.5 kilodollars on a plate anyway
well out of curiosity i looked to see if i could find one for the Guzzi and i can get MG12NTX which is awsome but .... its £499
Vlad would be able to justify that for a Guzzi, he loves 'em.
Lots of Northern Irish plates for sale with 1400 0n them :)
Funny, I told a mate I'd bought H2SX1
He has a green SX same as mine and already has 1H2SX on it.

Saw EXWIFE on the back of a hatch at the local O'neillsTyres workshop.
Wife just realised I'd bough "another stupid plate", she shook her head then just started on another subject. Took her a while to notice. She took it well.
I've bought a few toys recently, I have a feeling I'm going to be getting the bill for our next holiday to keep her happy.
Wouldn't catch me with a personal plate  :rofl2:
Taz, gsx14 id be there in an instant. otherwise no
A mate of mine has IMA 14.
Forgot to say got
CR05 TAZ who wants it £500
 :notworthy: :onya:
I wish I had Tony's money to spend, and that my wife had Tony's wife's tolerance ! :)
I have to admit to having a personalised plate on my Defender Ute though "UTE 130"
At least the number is right
Tesla I often see at the charging station in the car park OFF GRD
It doesn't mean what he thinks it means.
I do around 1200km a week around Sydney for work so I see a LOT of wanky plates.
This was a good one.
My 1400 has: 320KS (KPH was out of the question)
A friend of mine in the USA has this plate :imrgreen:
Another Tesla .. 'PUS 01" :confused1:
Maybe because it looks like pus?
Shame it's not a legal plate.
I saw a Hardly chopper thingo, rider had a total face full of ink. Plate was something like DRUGO, bike was so illegal, why would you spend that much money on a plate to advertise that either you or machine dont comply.
I can't find it now, but I saw a plate earlier this morning on Facebook. It was a on a stolen motorcycle...G5POT :imrgreen:
It's actually off a red Toyata 1Q3. Maybe they were hoping no man would be able to find it :rofl2:
Was out on the Ducati yesterday and had a bit of a competition with an Audi TT as to who made the best sound on the traffic light speedway. I am going to say I won cos a Vtwin sounds better than a V10 but his number plate was quite good, it was AV10 TOY, brilliant.
Behind a van today all painted up company stiffly art. Number plate was ST11FFY :clapping: :rofl2:
And the point of a private plate is.......? Erm, especially the ones spelling the owners name followed by XXX. Are these people ill? :rofl2:
Went out on Christmas day for a ride in South Wales and saw 46 VR, not on a blue and yellow R1 but on a Blue and yellow Volvo estate
Must admit that I've never understood the number plate 'snobbery' some of us Brits seem to have, some years back I bought a mint
AJ6 Jag, a neighbor commented 'going to get a personalized plate for it'?? WHY?? Well no-one will know how old it is EH???
I don't give a flying f**k what others think or how old it is!!
A guy I know has his name as the plate, err, so everyone now knows what he's called?????
There is also a 'British-thing' as to number plate watching, example: pull up anywhere in a new or different car & your pals or neighbors
say, 'nice car' & as they walk around will inevitably cast a glance at the year-plate!!
Our American cousins seem to got it right, there's loads of 'individualized' plates over there, but none of the snobbery somehow.

Saw a car with a number plate "DAZZAR"
You couldn't get a more low-rent bogan nickname than that. His girlfriend's name is bound to be "Shazza".
So you'd assume it'd be some V8 Commodore or similar.
Nope - brand new F-Type Jaguar.
Couldn't get a more unlikely pairing.
I suspect he's a bogan who won lotto...
Tesla with number plate "Pew Pew"
There's an older R1 running around Brisbane: 150HP
My 1972 Laverda: LAV72
My GSX1400: 320KS

$2500 wasted there.
I bought a DEL one 22 years ago and only for one reason I bought a car cheap cause it had NOB in the registration - still got it today and it has been on 6 cars (so much revenue for the DVLA)
I think I may have a new winner....
I saw a red car yesterday with the number plate "R3D"
So he'd spent $2,500 to buy a plate which didn't actually say RED, to tell people that his car (which is painted red) is red.
Maybe you'd spend that money on a red Ferrari or something you think? Nah - Skoda Wagon.
Def a Ferrari number plate, would make sense. I saw FEROUCIS on a 4wd today. WHY?
Hard to pick just 3

FMD Just shows that dollars certainly doesn't buy sense. (see what I did there?)
You could buy another pile of Rolls Royces for that...
But if you've got enough RRs already & endless pots of money, you might as well. Plates like that are a good investment too.
