Title: Latest Resto
Post by: lawrie on Friday, 06 July 2018, 03:56 AM
Latest total nut & bolt resto, I built the new stainless rims & spokes & fitted the tyres myself, blasted & painted in the back garden!!
Made the seat & covered it, completely made the loom & modified to modern solid-state reg/rect system, designed & 3D printed the silver carb-covers (unobtainable now) only thing I DID,NT do was the chroming & aqua-blasting!
The Thai replica silencers although fitted ok, hung down about 6", so I cut & re-welded them so the now hang 'UP' 6 inches!
Not correct for the purists, but stuff-em, its my bike.

Here's the amazing bit, I GUESSED the timing & ignition settings, then this afternoon, I put in some fuel, switched on, pressed the starter & it was running before I let go, nice & smooth & settled to a nice tickover,  Whos a jammy git then???
I think this will be the last one.

I think this will be the last one.

Chamberlain thought there would be "Peace in our time" too, but that didn't happen either....

I'd like to try out these 3, the new 2018 Goldwing, K1600GTL & Rocket3 touring.  I'd keep the 14 as well though, well, 1 of them anyway, probably the black.

Many thanks again fellas for your kind remarks to an old guy!!
Some asked about model/year etc.  The blue one is a CA 77, Super Dream,  the red one is a CB 77, Super Sports, both are 1964 & both are 305cc. The dream has 16" wheels & the S/S has 18".
The engines are 'almost' the same with a few differences namely, the dream has a single carb, & the crank has both pistons go up & down together, the S/S is twin carbs, the pistons go one up, one down so cam timing is different, & there's a tacho drive from the L/side of the head.
Also, the S/S had twin-leading shoe brakes on BOTH wheels!!
