So its 1-1 in the synchronized diving !!
:rofl2: :rofl2:... at least they haven't started chucking benches at each other...
so bad refereeing !! anyway wrong shaped balls for me :)
That was a hard way to do it........
Goalie wont have to put his hand in his pocket for a beer anytime soon.
Wow - don't think I breathed much in that penalty shoot-out
Please excuse the vocab....!!

Believe it or not, that was exactly what I said to my daughter 30 seconds before he made the save. If he saves this, he'll never pay for a drink in England again.
By the way, it's the FOOTBALL World Cup. There is no such sport as "soccer".
i listen,to comments on which is best footy. never comment, each to their own. my mate is rated top 5 refs in union in oz. we never talk about it, i dont follow. my grandson is a champion in soccer/football, hes very good, lectures me on whos who, i still dont know anything about it. i love league, just my sport. we have afl in oz, too long, to many stops but only watch my mighty richmond tigers, waited 37 yrs for them to win grand final. somehow i tagged onto them as a kid, still follow religiously. would never watch afl if they werent playing. strange, i guess. bit like i picked out suzuki years ago, any race with one in it , ill watch. strange old prick i guess i am.
Well if you're strange them so am I.. and that doesn't seem at all likely :rofl2:
I'm a proud Queenslander so naturally I support... Balmain Wests Tigers !
Fishy.......World Cup of Turf Billiards ?? :whistling:

I am genuinely surprised he is still alive.
Almost placed a bet he would be killed within the first six months after his inauguration.
Guess miracles do exist
Back on soccer....
So France has defeated Belgium (the French are a happy lot today judging by the crowds in Paris)
That just leaves England to face Croatia for the other spot in the final.
I hope England gets up - would e great to see an England v France world cup final. :onya:
Heck I'd even watch it, which is saying something as I haven't watched a whole games of soccer since... grade 7.
And only then because I was playing...
I suspect though that England would rather lose a semi against Croatia than they would lose a final against France. Never hear the end of that, would you !
Anyway I'm hoping for an narrow victory by England over France in the final. Let's hope that all pans out.
I second that, would be good to see England win it.
England for me.............still havn't forgotten the "Rainbow Warrior"
The DGSE are pinning the blame on the soccer team now are they?
And, and, and they beat us in the Rugby World Cup 1/4 final years ago with a forward pass !! :cry2:
I know F A about football, & have difficulty understanding the total mass-hysteria that ensues around it, HOWEVER, we live next to a busy main road & since retirement we enjoy relaxing in the conservatory or garden, our brains somehow 'switch-off' the traffic noise, but every time there's a big match on, we are 'deafened' by the silence, & I wonder why!!
So, yeah, we love the world cup!! :happy1:

Much as I dislike him, and wouldn't shed a tear if someone did knock him off, the sad truth is there's a lot of Americans who don't regret voting for him, partly due to their hate for professional politicians. Much as it pains me to say it, I wouldn't be surprised if he got in again!

Not much into football but yesterday I showed my support by erecting a flagpole and two flags.
Neighbours were over the moon and came round as I have UK tv with HD, local terrestrial tv here is rubbish so I ended up watching a whole game.

I have to agree with you. I have a sinking feeling that he is going to get in again. Have a look at these interviews about his latest idea, "Space Force". This is the level of intellect we are dealing with:

Anyway, back to the football (not soccer) - speaking as a Welsh person living in England who happens to like football (not soccer) I am really enjoying this World Cup and I would like it if England get through to the final (and maybe win), if only because it will give them something else to bang on about instead of 1966. That's got a bit tired now after 52 years.
Also my daughter's football mad (and English), so it would be nice for her.
I am Welsh and find myself cheering for England much the better side but have to say referee is crap...wrong shaped balls but hey ho - good luck England in extra time . My mate Ian in dover sent me this - didn't understand until I asked the girls in fat club :)
I just wish they would come up with a British team !!! .... Welsh, Scottish , irish and saesneg !
Need to remember they are in Russia before they start wrecking the trains.......
It would do the whole country good if they behave and go out with a bit of pride instead of being yobs .
I was born in Nottingham and after the last game I was ashamed after I saw the celebrations (trashing cars and bus stops) it's just a game folk need to remember that.
I've lived in Scotland for 30 years and everyone can learn from the way there cams behave in major tournaments getting best fans awards where ever they go .
The Welsh and Irish are much the same as the Scots.
Glad I don't follow football .
I hope the we don't see loads of violence from so called fans.
:frustrated:
I agree
@seth ..... im not a football fan i like Rugby!! but i like to see home nations do well without the yobery !
C R O A T I A !!! :boogie:
@mlivkovich I hope your lot win the whole thing .
A shame I was hoping for England to get up. But not enough that I bothered to watch the game.
It would have been great to see a France v England final.
On one hand though, I suspect the Brits would much rather lose to Croatia in a semi, than to France in a final.
Because the French would never let them hear the end of it. :)

So that's how that is spelled? I'd heard it spoken but never seen it written.
It's sad to see England out of contention, also sad to see is this news report.
www.msn.com/en-nz/news/national/bunch-of-thugs-newshubs-lloyd-burr-assaulted-on-live-tv-after-englands-loss/ar-AAzWNTg?li=AAaeXZz&ocid=spartandhp
It appears some take the loss very personally. You poor buggers over there, coming up against this because of not making the final. Can't say I'd like to be among that.
Thats pretty sad Col. Probably nothing less than expected.
England put more pressure on their own keeper than they did the Croatian one.

It's not football that causes violence, it's a combination of alcohol and arseholes. Plenty of us are able to watch the game without wanting to batter someone.
Having said that, I notice that you are allowed to drink beer in the stadiums at the World Cup, but you can't do that in domestic football in the UK. And yet, there hasn't been any significant crowd violence in Russia as far as I can tell.
I'm not saying I have all the answers but I suspect the heavily armed Russian police are a significant factor.
The russian police take no prisoners !... they beat you were you stand ..... could do with a bit of that over here might sort out some of the street scum we have over here !!
but then you might infringe these bastard's rights and we can't have that.
there hasn't been any violence at the World Cup mainly due to the authorities going round all the football Hooligans and telling them to leave the vicinity for the period of the games
Good to see authority having some teeth. We could learn a few lessons from Russia ourseĺves.
Congrats France! :hat:
Congrats Croatia for a great championship. IMHO didn't loose anything!

Especially when you take into account it is such a young country, a population of less than 5 million and a football league that is described by "match of the day" as chaotic.
Also very sad to see French fans in Paris lose the plot on Sunday night.
Well done France :clapping:
