Title: Bar ends
Post by: ARH on Sunday, 24 June 2018, 10:22 PM
Noticed my K2 bar ends are getting tatty... tried repainting them but paint gets worn off with my gloves... obviously my painting is crap  :whistling:
solution would be to get the originals powder coated, but no one doing that near me.   Any recommendations on aftermarket anodised ones? A lot I've seen seem to be aluminium... are they heavy enough?

Heavier the better I have stainless ones dampen down nearly all the vibrations.
Someone in the old org sold them to me.

Cheers Seth!  I thought the heavier ends were gonna be better to dampen vibration in the bars.. so can't quite see the point of aluminium... just for bling I 'spose  :whatever:

I have noticed the same. Heavier the better. I have aluminium Renthal bar and I couldn't find heavy enough weights,
so I made my own budget class solution.
About four inches of about 15 mm diameter(cant remember exactly) steel bar, small 6mm threaded holes for pulling out if needed,
and self vulcanizing rubber tape around the bar and knocking them in. Works, and doesn't cost anything. :)

I made one for me from inox and polished them. Look good and no problems with paint.

my heavy bar ends are hammerite painted, look good. still sitting on shelf 6 yrs later. i have nice blue ones, aluminium, never noticed any difference with vibration. mirrors perfectly clear. just lucky i guess.

Oberon stainless steel bar ends are what you need. Same style as standard just in stainless and a little heavier than standard. Ideal  :onya:
