Title: UK 1400 Prices
Post by: Irish in Oz on Sunday, 10 June 2018, 04:46 PM
Just had the shock of my life, UK prices for a 14 are the same or greater than in Oz. The biggest problem being the GBP is equivalent of double the AUD.
Same goes for classic bikes.

Grog, Here is a comparison my bike  07 50,000 miles lucky to get 4500 AUD which is 2500 GBP. Looking at UK bike sales older models going for probably little less mileage looking about 4500 GBP.
My mate in Oz has a Hardly and can't sell it for 18500 best offer he has got 14000.

Yes the prices are on the up here with as you say not many 14's doing less that £3500 and it will have quite a few miles on it at that price , it seems strange to me as there is no shortage of them here they sold in thousands , but you dont see to many rough ones most are well looked after and i think a lot of older riders are getting fed up of the modern computerised stuff and want something similar to what they rode when they were young !
Also when the kids are gone there's a bit more money about and you tend not to mined paying a bit more for the right bike !

Yes.   Mine took me a while to find. I was always after a project, either crashed, or stolen recovered of something similar.

Mine cost me $2,500 and I spent another $125 and raided my parts and spares along with trading a few bits to get it on the road.

I recon mine owes me about $2,625 or £1,490. OK, so its rough as guts, dented tank, gravel rashes cases, wrong clocks and headlight, but it had a full system, PC3, dyno map etc.

I have two mates who also bought cheap crash damaged bikes so they are around.

The downside to the AU market (compared to the UK or EU) is its a huge country with a small population. Less bikes to chose from and often a huge distance away.

GSX14's sold OK here but really most folk are now more interested in dirt bikes, sports bikes or Harley's. I think those that appreciate 14's hang onto them, and those putting them up for sale know they have something that's in demand. I doubt they will ever be a "cheap bike" apart from the odd project and a deal from a mate.

Which is about $5400 AUD, I would be lucky to get that for my 07 model with full Givi panniers and box. And standard pipe.

There's a fair range of prices in NZ for them.  I've seen recently a couple advertised in the high $8000's & 1 at $9000 to the other end of the scale with some around $2500 or just over.
