Think I'm gonna put on a fly screen but not sure what one to go for. Anyone got any pics of their I4 with fly screens? Want one that looks good but also does a good job of keeping the wind off.
I have the puig one in dark tint does a decent job of deflecting most of the air from the chest area but , i dont really want anything to big as i like the naked look of the bike and the small screen just takes the wind blast of you at high speed .
Same on mine. Puig 0869 tinted. My neck is relaxed up to 140 kmh and I am 201 cm tall, only shoulders get some wind.
Look what "24 litres fuel tank mod" can make under your bike if you stop to take a picture just 1 km from petrol station :smoke:
Also have like yours, but do not like it at all.
Over the years, had different (top is the latest), and everytime it's a compromise.
Also I have cheap ebay screen, which I probably will test some days :)
Had the tinted Puig when I bought her (tried the clear on my 1st K2). Was the 1st thing that came off!
I only consider a screen for a long tour. In that case it needs to be functional. It would come right off after the tour!!! (Probably wouldn't put it on in the 1st place) Something like the one Lawrie posted (btw, great looking paint scheme on his bike):

This US made touring-screen looks crap, BUT, believe me, its fantastic at 100, er 70 mph, no buffeting at all & one sits in nice still air, I actually think it may improve the performance as it adds to the streamlining & it also covers the hands so acts a bit like those hand-guards to keep ones pinkies warm!!
Or the "MRA Vario-Screen für Naked-Bikes"
Sorry boys. Screens, any screens, don't belong to naked muscle bike. But if you like the Goldwing style, it's up to you.. :stir:
I had a quite small screen.
I took it off an SV I bought and sold.
I put it on the 14 to cover the small KOSO dash I fitted.
It made no difference to me either at speed or over a 1100k weekend run up to Agnes Water and back.
To be fair my tank bag was taller the the screen when packed.

I'm yet to find a screen that works. They do a good job of deflecting the wind from your chest to your head meaning a very sore neck after a couple of hours riding, severe buffeting and the bigger they are the noisier they are. They don't look much good either.
My bike came with a Givi screen. It looked OK but it deflected all the air straight into my face. Anything over 40mph was deafening, even with earplugs in.
The guy I bought the bike off was quite short. Maybe the screen worked for him, but it didn't for me so I sold it.
I have a f4 brand screen for mine. From usa, not cheap. Sits in the shed, same as above, keeps a bit of wind off but directs rest straight at head. Not a fan of it. Plus it marked top of headlight, annoyed me. Naked is naked i reckon.
When I had my 14, I found a Skidmarx cockpit fairing worked for me.
quite like the look of the flyscreen shanered6 has. Especially with the black tint. I'm a bit on the fence whether I like the look of flyscreens on a naked bike, small ones like on shanered6 bike seem to suite them quite well but depends on whether it deflects the wind enough to make a noticeable difference.
Was hoping a flyscreen would help a little bit with aerodynamics as I'm a big lad and so widest part of the bike is me, in theory if the fly screen deflects enough wind then it'll surely reduce the drag that I make but not sure they perform that well?
My screen
It's a bit I but no longer available does a great job
I've got the National Cycle F18 screen on The Express. Bolts onto the headlight and sits close over the clocks. Does a fairly good job of keeping the wind off.

@seth You say that screen is no longer available? Maybe there's a opportunity here, Lawrie is a dab hand at making things, maybe he could make some - if he had a pattern to go off, like your one? Mind you, he'd need the inclination & he'd have to make it different so an not to infringe on the original makers copyright - if they had one. Maybe make the screen a little higher, that'd be a difference.
Mine is givi A720 I think I'm not sure why they stopped it as it's a 4 point mount so doesn't flap about like some screens I've seen in the past
I´ve got a Givi, may seem a bit large on the photo, but it´s not that large. The other day I polished it and in between I tried the bike without the screen and what a difference. Had forgot how it was without. No screen = lots of pressure on the head and chest. It´s similar to the actual Givi A210 (their site has a GSX14) or the A200 (this one seems shorter).
I'm using the same Jeykey. Suits me, not too big, not too small. :onya:
Ewww screens, you might as well buy a FJR

I am seriously thinking about an R1200RS as a touring bike. I don't like the GS, I know they are great and the best selling bike in the universe, but to me they look like a load of scaffolding with a duck's beak stuck on the front. The RS is the same engine in a much nicer looking package. Just waiting for them to get a bit older so there are some better value used bikes for sale.
did a test ride on r1200r, not my type of bike. if you like them, so be it. i was glad to get back on 14 for ride home. they offered me 4g for 14, plus another 22g to buy it. enough said from me.

You wont regret it, I would say my R1200r is a much better bike than the 14, I still like my 14 but the beemer is smoother, handles better, brakes better and uses a lot less fuel. It's a much more modern bike with electronic suspension, Cornering ABS, traction control, quick shifter, cruise control, heated grips, tyre monitors (told me I had a flat before I noticed it the other day, new tyre on route) and a shaft drive. It has more power less weight and the same torque as the 14 so shifts a bit better, the RS is the same bike with a small fairing. If you buy one go for one with as many extras as you can, they hold their prices better.

I had a beemer in the 80's and liked it a lot, I was not a fan of the telelever front end but the new bikes have gone back to USD forks which are great. It's not everyone's cup of tea but I like it. If you after a new bike grog I hope you find what you are looking for.
I have original Suzuki flyscreen. Do good job. But just up to 120-130 km/h

Didn´t know they had an original for the GSX.

Thanks ! That´s fine. Looks nice, similar to my Givi but a bit smaller, I think. Nice and discreet on a stock bike. That's the way I like it, stock. But I always need a top case; doesn't look nice but is very useful.
And this one

BTW: On photo is a friend when he borrowed my motorcycle to pass....little bit more powered than his standard GSX1400....look on his respect in face

Protection is not much bigger, but cleaning the flies is easier
I also get a lot of flies, here down South.
