Inspired by grogs excellent 3 songs thread...
I often try to pin down my 10 favourite bands.
And its not bloody easy I can tell you.
Let's imagine that you were to be cast away on a desert island with nothing but food, shelter and a kick arse stereo system. You managed to save various albums from just 10 bands / artists as your ship sank.
Which 10 would that be? (in no particular order)
I'll have to sit down and give this some consideration myself.
Damn this is hard, ok here's my crack at it.
Quote
The Doors
Led Zeppelin
INXS
The Divinyls
KISS
Johnny Cash
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Pink Floyd
Queen
Def Leppard
But only 10 is so damn hard... :frustrated:
My choices are based not necessarily as they are more 'talented' than other bands (well The Doors and Led Zeppelin were), but because of associations with when I grew up etc.
I'd certainly hope that some more would wash up from the shipwreck to augment that ten....
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Bruce Springsteen
Talking Heads
The Clash
Alice Cooper
Peter Gabriel
Oasis
The Killers
T-Rex
Joe Cocker
The Rolling Stones
The Beatles
David Bowie

im so glad kiwi. some great irish bands but theyre not on my list. cranberries, van morrison, u2, stiff little fingers, all good. rory gallagher my fave, got to see him in concert. loved a drink. could he play that guitar, yes. went to see van the man, he played for 22 minutes. destroyed my opinion on him. so disappointed. sawu2 with bb king, great concert.
Rory Gallagher was the first concert I went too. I had his autograph on an old Taste ticket from Queens in Belfast but lost it on my move to Oz.
Some of the best concerts ever been to where in Ulster Hall, Motorhead, AC/DC, Rory, Rose Tattoo.
@grog I saw BB King at a stand-alone concert. What can I say but AWESOME !
He was supported by Lil' Fi and the Delta Rhythm Kings (not bad).
I was also fortunate to see Junior Wells (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junior_Wells) live, that was a great gig.
Back in the day, The Treasury Hotel in town used to have regular blues gigs in the basement - I was there a lot. Blues + Bourbon + Smokes. Those were the days... :D
its a long time since i saw a famous band (seen plenty of pub bands ) ive seen ac/dc ,motorhead and iron maiden in there hay days and the last big band i saw about 10 years ago was.... tower struck down ... a kind of a rock foulk band bloody good ! but alas the older you get the less bloody time you have to do anything
