just saw a 1963 gto Ferrarri sold today to a bloke who makes car floor mats. i remember, 2010, seller bought it for 47 mill. said its price would double in 7 years. so he was wrong, it took 8 yrs and still 3 mill. short. oh well, he tried.
That's quite a lot of money....
Never have been, and never will be a fan of Ferraris.
All "Rolex & white socks" image.
I'll get ready for the abuse.... :stir:
Always preferred a Porsche.
Similar to me Lil..
I have always said after a lottery win a Ferrari it would NOT be..
Aston Martin probably..
Oh and I have a thing for boats..
Love the sound of powerful marine engines..
For me it would have to be either an Audi R8 or a Lambo.....
(That's after I've bought the stable load of 70's and 80's superbikes to fill the garage - GT750A/B H2, z900A, Trident, Commando 750, GS1000S, Benelli 900 Sei, etc etc :whistling:)
Aston Martin for me, all the way. It's not all about power, it has to be gorgeous ... !
Some of those classic Ferraris are freaking gorgeous. Not $47,000,000 gorgeous, but damn nice.
New ones are nothing more than video games packaged as cars. They bore me to death.
The again, back in those days they knew how to make good looking cars... Mercedes had some beauties, as did Alfa, Jaguar, and many others.
These days all the rules (your indicators must be this high and this far apart and etc etc etc) has made cars very "samey". SO those ones whose designs are instantly recognisable, AND beautiful really do stand out. Like.. Aston Martin.
Not that it matters. I'll never have enough money to buy one.

Audi R8
We have the entire Audi and Porsche range (lots of GT3s etc) at work, there was an R8 went through last week but a workmate got to it before me, I was moving Porsche 718's. I'd love an R8 as a stupid toy but stuff like the SQ7 with its 48 volt suspension and electrically boosted twin turbo's would be a great car you could live with. The mad RS6 590hp Avant / Performance wagon would be high on my list but my dog might not agree when I took him down the park in it...!!!
Interestingly, as manufacturers try and cover a bigger market section they are heading in different directions.
The latest Porsche Macan is the cheapest Porsche in 30 years, and Audi now sell little 999cc A1's. We shift a lot of Porsche Cayenne's, what was a serious sports car brand is now a family SUV to a lot of folk.
The other side of the coin is Kia are making stuff like the twin Turbo Stinger and Hyundai make the excellent (GTi Golf competitor) i30N. Folk who still doubt the Korean manufacturers are a bit like the Triumph and Harley owners laughing at "Japan Crap".
all above is correct. some great cars out there. nearly 50 yrs of fixing/driving the bloody things. xr4 ford was a big surprise, like oversized go cart. my fave is still ferrari. i dont have a rolex and only wear white sox to golf. pic ill try to post, owner valued at nearly 200g in australia. that was to buy one same. he moved to england for 12 months, lived there, bought convertible he wanted, shipped it back to oz, cost of whole deal, exporting car, living was 130g. smart man. unreal car. drives so well.
Harumph.
Ferraris are for people who can afford an Aston but have no taste.
I cant afford either but do like looking/ driving other peoples.

Me to!
Mostly Stingers, Landcruisers, GTi Golfs, Arteon's, some Audi's and several Merc and Amarok utes today.
We have 440 Kia's turning up tomorrow. New shape 2019 model Cerato is here.
Aston Martin have had an interesting few years.
Ford sold them to 2 Kuwait investment company's and only held onto a small %.
Aston are buying Merc engines, as well as building cars in Austria, Daimler own a small % of the brand.
As a company they have made some HUGE losses over the last few years and yet they are building a luxury high rise apartment block in Miami.
It will be interesting to see what their future brings.
We have the latest new Porsche GT2-RS in.
AU$645,000 or AU$677,000 depending on who you ask before you start ticking the option lists.
I haven't driven one.... yet.
You're a lucky man Tony!!
This weeks favourites are the RS6 wagon / estate car, looks almost sensible and a bit stealthy, but has a 600hp V8, or the Audi SQ7 that sits up like a great big comfy SUV and has 48v-boosted twin turbo's on it 400+hp V8 for instant get up and go.
I still haven't had a go in the R8 yet!
Nice cars but not worth selling my house to own one!
I'll stick to my Toyota's and Suzuki's I think...
600 neddys! in a wagon! Talk about a sleeper . . .
600 neddys! in a wagon! Talk about a sleeper . . . "I just got whipped by a station wagon!"
Yeah, that appeals to me.
They don't attract too much attention and seem genuinely useable.
Another GT2-RS turned up at work yesterday.
Someone has been ticking the options list of this one.
Carbon fibre bonnet, roof, mirrors, dash etc, magnesium wheels.
I'd guess its easily a $750,000 / £420,000 car sat there.
We bought up the GT2-RS options list on the Internet and starting seeing how many things we could tick. It didn't take us long to turn a $650,000 car into one close to $1,000,000
Edit: The weight saving Weissach pack is an extra $62,000.
Miami blue paint is $7990.
Asking for the wheels painted black is an extra $1390.
BOSE sound system is $3390.
Aluminium pedals are $830.
Illuminated carbon door sill guards are $2870.
Carbon and leather floor matts are $1630.
Alcantara sun visors are $990.
interior trim pack with stitching to match the cars paint is $7360.
Dash dials in white is $850.
leather key pouch and colour coded key is $910.
To have to heater control panel painted is $1490.
To have to heater air vents painted is $2790
Well, I suppose they have to have something for the rich folk to spend their money on, even if they never use or need them.
sure is a lot to spend on a car. he must have it. my mate got lexus last week, 85g, nice car but i thought that was outrageous. the porsche is 10x by it.
Those options were never available for an A60 Cambridge. Even had to enlarge the drain holes in the floor myself. :whatever:
Hahaha fruit if you left the cambrige a couple of years the holes would have enlarged them selfs :whistling: handy for for the half eaten pie youwant rid of :happy1:
