Title: waterproof boots
Post by: Speedy1959 on Friday, 01 June 2018, 05:49 PM
Hi All...
I am not a fan of the monster knee high clod hopper boots..
For one thing I find full length boots too restrictive for gear change sensitivity.

So I would like any recommendations for shorter length boots that are actually waterproof. .
Yes even in summertime (in the UK) we need waterproof bike gear.

I have a pair of supposedly waterproof Richa boots and they leak very quickly through the zips ! They took over 2 weeks to dry out properly when I once got them soaked.

My favoured pair are short length Alpinestars lace up bike boots..
Supremely comfy but not even shower proof !

Hi Speeds,
I have these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=tcx+x+blend&tag=mh0a9-21&index=aps&hvadid=80607978155435&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_b55qeexd8_e

They are urban style so perhaps not best suited with leathers, I toured Scotland last year where it rained pretty much nonstop but they held up brilliantly. I would highly reccomend them, I quite often wear them off the bike as well as they are not the power ranger in yer face type :onya:

Cheers
Red

I have a pair of Daytona Roadstar GTX - and they are totally waterproof, used them for the past 3 years now and never leaked once, even when I've ridden (recently) in torrential rain all day.

Not cheap - but probably the best and last set you'll ever buy - but highly recommended and you can get spares easily for them (if required). I swear by them.

Thanks very much to you all for your advice.
I will study properly on my PC rather than on my phone.

Thanks again.

+1 for altbergs we both have them and they are fantastic
Like army boots that lace up with a speed lacing system.
Done over 25000 miles in mine still waterproof just keep them clean and 'reproof them every now and then.
Ours were £175 a pair but worth every penny.

I have those. Pretty comfortable and not looking like superbike boots  :)

Daytona's are one of the best, money can buy, but unfortunately they do not suit my foot. Had them and sell them same week.

I have a pair of short TCX boots for summer riding. They weren't very expensive and they are very comfortable. Nicely made with genuine Goretex and they haven't leaked yet. I can't find a picture of the exact ones, but this seems to be the equivalent they are selling now:
