I know the purists amongst you will say this matching up of the little circle and one of the two arrows is important BUT does it really matter? I tried to do this but the teeth on the inside of the plate would not align with the teeth on the hub while also allowing for the space around the holes where the springs need to go; I had to turn the plate to the next hole where everything fitted beautifully. As everything looks symmetrical I could see no reason for the positioning indents.
Haven't refilled with oil yet in case I get some quick convincing answers to suggest I should reconsider. Thanks!!

Pretty sure it's important, otherwise it would not be specifically mentioned in the manual with two photos. I think it has to do with the casting backside of the cover plate and clutch basket.
IMHO I would be following the manual....

I agree, if it says do it, id be doing it.
