This is one for Barmy (and any other Tex owners)
What I'm interested to know, is the Tex better on fuel than the 14 was?  & if so what's the difference?

Yes - my average mpg in just over 5000 miles is 49.8mpg (the Tex has options which give me this info) and thats on a bike with 139bhp.

Whats the difference is perhaps a little harder to answer. Technology clearly has mived on since the 14 was originally built in 2002 (and realistically even the last built 14's were still using that engine). The characteristics of the triple in the Tex though is much the same, it has some pretty good low down torque so you dont need a handful of throttle to get going - much the same as the 14. Weight wise, the Tex is slightly heavier (by about 28 lbs).

Essentially i think its just the engine technology that has resulted in the better mpg, much the way that cars are more frugal with fuel these days.

Ooops sorry - yes I used to get about 39-42mpg (depending on town or motorway riding) on my 14, so getting on average about another 7-10 mpg.

I am amazed at the economy of my BMW R1200r, my 14 gets around 49 - 50 mpg but my Beemer gets around 64 - 65 mpg with the same riding style.  Both bikes have much the same torque 92 v 93 Ft lb, the Beemer is slightly lighter 198 v 225kg and has more power 125 v 108 bhp but things have moved on and both bikes give a big smile.
