I have been researching different brands of tyres to replace both mine. I know a lot of you highly rate the Pirelli GT and the Michelin P4 and 5 but I have decided to go for the Avon 3D ultra sport.
From the write ups they appear to be up there with the best tyres but are cheaper. I just got a pair delivered for £145. I know you cant put a price on safety but I think I have got very good value for my money.
Something I learned whilst researching which maybe some of you don't know:
On your tyres, there is four digits inside a box with rounded sides. The first two digits represent the week (out of 52) and the last two digits represent year the tyre was made.
My rear is stamped 4709, nearly nine years old, not rode it since.
Interested to see how you get on with your new tyres .
I'm sure they'll be fine it'll be good to have options and see how they last .
I'm thinking of getting a set of these, be interested in your views once you've put some miles on them, not too far away from you either
Yes I will report back on them Seth.
I think what swayed my decision was I was talking to a guy with a Hyabusa last week and he was raving them. I already have Avon storms on and Im quite happy with them so Im hoping the newer version 3D MX sport is even better.
Cheers will look forward to your findings .
I tend to go for stability wet and dry and life span .
I used to really like Avons until the Storm 2 Ultra which didn't work in the cold or wet, so not much use to me.
I've put a set on mine, and so far I am impressed, bike holds a very good line and there is good feedback from the suspension.
