Hi chaps, i posted on the old org on how i came by my bike, but as this is a new forum, like all good stories, i,ll start at the beggining,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
my bike was bought from new by adrian jones, from brum. sadly last year he died after a short battle with cancer. i was with his close family in the hospice when adrian passed away.
after a month or so gav and jem, his son and daughter asked if i was interested in his 14 as they knew i had bikes in the past.and wanted the bike to stay in the family.
ide only ridden sports bikes and had allways liked 14,s. so after a chat with the missus a deal was done.
the bike came fairly standard, heated grips, givi top box, hugger, alarm, screen and custom seat.
i havnt got any pics with the bike as it came but it wasnt long before some tastefull mods were fitted.
SO do you have some later pictures Andi, or pictures of Work in Progress if you are adding mods perhaps?
top bike
how do you get it to float like that without a stand :rofl2:
i have a red/black k5 for my second bike sometimes its nice to go back to standards 14 every now and then .
so relaxing to ride .
I do have pics of the stuff I've done, and plan to do a build thread.but I was on nights last night and I am still a bit sleepy :boring:
Pics and details to come.
The first thing i did was fit renthals as the standard bars felt a bit too tall, also new black mirrors and bar clamp. new grips and "bullet" bar ends.
nice ride and welcome :onya:
ive got the same mirrors as you have how do you find them
i bet the same as you do :whistling:
1 at each end of the bars :stir:
bugger off seth :stir: :onya:
couldn't resist that one
:rofl2: :rofl2:
i am not going to bite nope :whistling:
as with other bikes ive had, i allways seem to try for 7th gear :frustrated:
so whilst i was in ibiza last august, tomohawk was busy fitting his digi gear shift magic to my dials and were waiting for me when i got back.
same time painted the headlight brackets as the laquer was pitting in places as were the fork bottoms.
the swingarm and rear footpeg brackets went off for powdercoating, whist footpegs and half front rests were painted/polished

so far iam happy with them, dont rattle and havnt moved, good price as well
next thing was to remove headers and collector to get to the engine for a bloody good clean, yup one bolt sheared :smiley-music002:, drilled and stainless studs fitted.collector box was all rusty and a couple of pipes had dinks on the underside soooooooooo i really had to fit new black widow headers and collectors and would have been rude not to fit the yoshi tri oval can i just had sitting in the garage.
rear springs and engine casings went off for powdercoating and just had to scratch the itch of wanting the sidestand chroming :confused1:
another pic
and some may have spotted in the background :clapping:
She looks lovely Andi, very clean, credit to you buddy
Cheers barmy, working my way round the bike getting it how I want and giving her a good clean. Ade rode it all year round and whilst it was looked after it needed a damn good fettle.
Got to build wheels up with new bearings, get tyres fitted and put back, then gonna decide if I am going black.

Noooooo ................I think red with the black is a lovely combination Andi - and a bit more unique as well.
Lovely bike.
LOL, i do like the black and red, and as the seats got red lettering and flames, i would probably need to re-trim, but the tank has a couple of small dings that tbh are bugging me.
:whatever: well just fitted new bearings so while iam off work today, might nip and get tyres fitted.
i can then get the her out the garage and admire all my hard work, and take some pics.
Tyres back on. any body spot the 2 things not quite right? :jack:
Torque Arm Not affixed at the front
Gear Change Rod not connected to the gearbox spline at the front.
:onya:
50% right :clapping: gear rod is ok, it is the torque arm. 2nd one isnt so easy to spot :boogie2:
the clue is,,,,,,,,,,hang on, without this, it just flaps about,,,,,,,,, and you need it holding up.
not sure of its name but the brake support arm not connected :onya:
side stand spring

side stand spring
 good spot seth, or was it all in the clue?
yup wheeled her out and spotted torque arm, or brake support arm as mrg and gsxbarny spotted, and had to use bungee cord to hold main stand up.
you dont need one :rofl2:
just cable tie it out of the way and park the bike next to a wall :rofl3:
Lovely use of colours Riz,
I know the pull of Black is strong but she 's already looking good!
Red
Must admit the black and red really do go with the gold wheels. I am not gonna get her painted right now.partly because I can't make up my mind. And I've spent a few quid on her over the winter plus with not having a bike for a few years I've had to kit out both me and the missus.
Also my old defender has been feeling left out and decided she needed a new exhaust and new tyres.
And I've managed a couple of rides as my shift pattern has allowed me to get out, might even go for a blast this afternoon.
Looking good Rizla :onya:
I do like the red/black GSX's. The gold wheels work well too
