After a new set of tyres as the ones on at the moment are squared off,any recomendations?
Loads of views on here - for me its Michelin Road 4 ( the 5 is now out with great reviews ) :)

I prefer Pirelli Angel gt's
But if you can find a dealer doing this Michelin are doing a £30 cash back on road 5's might be for others to but not sure.
Avon storm st2 ultra are very good on these bikes sport tourer tyres massive massive grip there like super glue had to replace the frontbpegs on me frist 14 scraped about an inch and a half off them and there fairly cheap compared about £150 a pair average
the old tyres thread :D
M7RR or Road Pilot 4 - not the 5 yet, it doesn't come in the GT with the toughened sidewall for our bikes.
I've ridden both these tyres on track too, you're just not going to get better than either from a tier 1 tyre manufacturer..
+1 on the Angel GT's.... just fitted a set and I'm impressed. Been a Bridgestone man until now, not tried the Michelin's but I gather they also have lots of supporters.
I think for the 'average' rider there are a few good tyres to choose from.... and at the end not many will 'fess up' and tell you their tyres are shite.. :rofl2:
Angel GT's are a great alrounder.
PR4s for me. I hate Storm Ultras, when they first came out they didn't work in the cold or wet unlike the except Storm 2s they replaced.
Cheng Shin.....they dont work on anything !!
I remeber a mate of mine had a ling shin on a cg125 only cost him £7.50 in 1983 was hilerious we used to call him navvy coz he was always in a ditch
PR4's for me as well
I stick with Metzeler Roadtech Z6 due to the tread pattern and the fact that I ride mostly on motorways..They do about 3k miles before the rear starts to square off :onya:
Should I get a 190 50 or a 55?
50 is std, lot of guys go 55 & are real happy with them, faster turn in etc. Entirely up to you as either work good. An added 'bonus' with a 55 is the speedo will be closer to correct than with a 50 - unless you've already got fitted a speedo healer, in which case you'll need to recalibrate it to read correctly again.

Changing to a 190/55 is a popular mod with some GSX1400, Hayabusa and certainly B-King owners. If your doing upright highway high miles you might not notice though.
Doesn't effect my speedo, mine (KOSO) reads off the front wheel.
My Busa and B-King always get 55's, my 14 doesn't as I'm already running a 30mm lift in the rear.
I have spare rims for some of my bikes, so when I compare 200's with 190's, and 50's with 55's it's not just comparing one old worn out tyre with another brand new one that some folk make the mistake of doing.
Going for the Angel gt's should I go A spec or standard?
Have had 3 sets PR4's before going to Road 5's all 50 profile as l wanted to compare the 4 and 5 like for like. Will put a 55 on next time just to see.
As Tony says a worn out tyre cannot be compared with a new one. You may as well swap bikes thats the difference a new tyre makes.
Some that like to milk the last kilometre off their old carcass will wish they had put a new tyre on sooner. Just makes for a nicer bike to ride. Safer too.

Standard is fine on the 14 mate.
I"ve just put a pair of PR4 on. BT021 squared off but got 7k mls from them. Impressed with PR4 so far.
We have just done 3000 miles in 3 weeks, 2up fully loaded. We went from roscoff (france) down the west coast of France, through the Pyrenees (Amazing roads) down the east coast of spain to the south coast. And back the same route. Front tyre looks nearly new, rear tyre is about half worn. Both are pilot road 4s. Really pleased with them. They felt really stable and gripped like glue. Personally I would recommend them to anyone.
And our trusty 14 performed like a super star not a single hiccup.
Great plate Nelly. Looking forward to a trip report and more photos :onya:
