Title: Exhaust
Post by: Harrisf1 on Thursday, 26 April 2018, 08:34 PM
Hi guys, I have just purchased a K5 with the standard single exhaust.

I purchased a set of links and Blue Flame Evo silencers they were a duel set so I guess they are from the earlier GSX, I was hoping to just use the right side but the link pipe doesn't fit the collector, so I ordered a seal for the K5 but it wont fit in to the link pipe, I am waiting for an earlier one to see if that works.

Any ideas...... or could I just purchase a Delkavic 4 in to 2 collector and use the Blue flames I have and have dual exhausts.

I like that idea.

Or am I going to have to sell the Blue flames and buy a K5 exhaust  :frustrated:

Cheers  :salute:

Hiya there different you'll need a link pipe and exhaust off a later gsx1400
Or get a 4-2 collector, centerstand and a left hand exhaust hanger/rear footrest from a twin pipe model.
Your downpipe will fit the earlier exhaust parts.

You will need a 4-2 collector, std, SBS or Delkevic (Delkevic would be my pick) and some exhaust hangers for the LH side or an earlier model LH rear footrest to support your can.

Red has a set of footrests that you should think about. http://gsx1400owners.org/forum/index.php?topic=2259.0

You could also think about Delkevic headers being single skinned they will let the engine breath a little more but they will stain a bit quicker.

I forgot about the Centre stand that Seth mentioned, the K5-7 is a bit wider and fouls on 4-2 pipes, the K1-K4 centre stand can be fitted with some washers or spacers to give clearance.

I personally think twin pipes suit the retro look better. Others here may disagree, even if they are wrong  :stir:

And that's all that matters, you like how your bike is & others like how their bike is.  There isn't a right & wrong.  :onya:

Did you have any issues with the centre stand when fitting the 4-2 ?

If you swap the 4 into 1 setup into a 4 into 2 on a K5 onwards then you have to remove the centre stand, as its an entirely different (wider) fitting and the tang is at a completely different angle.

You can retro-fit a stand off an earlier K2-K4 model using washers, as the fitting fir thise models is narrower (so you pack out with washers) and the tang is the right angke, the earlier midels having been built with 4into2 exhausts as standard
