Hi All
So, not really a Ride Out but... ive got Sat 26th May to Sat 2nd June off the Grind and I'm looking at a small trip to Luxembourg / Surrounding area. probably leaving Sat 26th May or Sunday 27th May. Thought i'd post up and ask if anyone fancies a wee blast that's not too far away for great food, beers and laffs
As with all my last 5 trips into Europe - my 1st port of call will be the brilliant Hotel Auberge aal Vienen in Vianden, I tiny villge just outside Luxembourg ( http://vianden.beimhunn.lu/en/ ) for one of their incredible Steaks - I'm now officially booked in every time under the name "Mr Rib Eye" . See attached photo from March this year. This is a bike friendly hotel, has secure parking and is a lovely place to stay.
Then I'm open / flexible to suggestions on where next but its very close to some fantastic places. Luxembourg is lovely and as I used to live there I know the lay of the land well. Great place for a few beers.
There is also Esch sur Sure just up the road, Lakes and biking roads.
Bastonge is very close
The Moselle Valley bike run is also really close and a fantastic run of just 170km through winding roads and small towns like Cochem which is a biking paradise..
Anyone fancy a few days away? Nothing massively expensive, just bikes, roads, beers n food.. As I don't really do UK biking anymore I get into Europe as often as I can. Ferry will be in the region of £75 and then its £45(ish) per nite for digs plus youll need Beer n food tokens
Heck.. we cold even go the Nurburgring and you can pay your 27 euros and have a go.. ive done it and it was ACE (ask Chop too) and we can book into a place ive stayed at before called Sliders Guest House very close..
Lots of options. lots of places..
be nice to be joined by some of you crazies...! I will also be going on my (hopefully) finished GSX14...

Sounds like my kind of hotel Stoli! Meat, Meat & more Meat! and Beer! :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: But, for the price of the plane ticket, I could probably buy 2 or 3 cows! maybe one day. . .

Indeed.. what more can you ask.. a big plate of dead, beers and a nice bed for the bike while you get Fat n drunk !
One day bud.....
I will have to seriously consider it (coming over / up?) Stoli, Dave is coming 'down' next year so will have a wee chat to him about it. Why not take the ole Barmy for a ride the Meat Hotel? He's got nothing to do & all day to do it! Notty would be free too, well, not free maybe, but very cheap anyway!!

I'm just hoping the GSX14 is going to be ready.. ive had a Shed-load done this year to it. its looking rather smart - if I do say so myself - but still a bit to do.. I was hoping to do the Run in May posted up but its not looking likely.. no front end in yet ! its a complete change for 2018!!
I was in Vianden last Friday. Wish I would have known about the steak
Week before I was in Cochem.
Sure I will be visiting both places again this year. Might come down to have a bite out of a cow while you are there. Mostly depends on the weather

I agree, in fact I have photo's showing "all that" veg is still on the plate when ive done.
Veg = contamination
Shame about the date you picked, if I'd seen it coming I would have joined you, I LOVE that area.
I have also stayed in that hotel (on the way back from Croatia), I got a little room in the attic as I recall. Great staff who found a place for the GSX in one of their lock-ups across the street for the night.
The food did look good an the place was bursting, it all seemed a bit out of my budget though.
If anyone has the chance to make the trip with you I would highly recommend it.

That's a bummer Ryngleader.
I might be amending dates and going on from Vianden to the Burtchesgaten in Austria...
Wot dates you free early June ?
Then... of course which bike would you use. We both have GSX and GTR's !!!
Stoli
My "holiday year" ends in June and starts afresh in July.
I had already booked off the week you first talking about to work on a holiday chalet I am refurbishing and I am sort of committed to it now as there is stuff being delivered. Shame, because if I had seen your trip coming I could probably have juggled something.
Other than that I just have two spare holiday days before the end of June that I need to use up. I had been toying with the idea of going to Belgium to buy a packet of fags.
If you do decide to head for the Bavarian Alps you will enjoy that too. Make sure you try and ride the Roßfeld panoramastraße above Berchesgarten and not so far away is the Großglockner where I took the GSX to eight and a half thousand feet.
https://www.grossglockner.at/gg/en/motorsandtyres/motorcyclists (https://www.grossglockner.at/gg/en/motorsandtyres/motorcyclists)
Ludwig II's three castles are worth plotting into a route down there, as is the cable car trip to the top of Zugspitz near Garmish-Partenkirchen.
As for choosing a bike – I'm happy as long as I have an open road and money for fuel. The GTR keeps the rain off but it's a damned sight harder to park. :smile2:
0308 View from Zugspitz summit
0860 Roßfeld Road
072 Roßfeld road
5455 The Großglockner
Oh man I'm sold Ryngleader. Sold n done. Got to get there! Thanks for the heads up.
I'll definitely get there
As for the GTR. Yes, it's a bugger to park or do anything low speed. Incredible mile-eater tho
I have to say.. the GTR will go soonish as I'm wanting an Africa Twin.
Stoli
Africa Twin - VERY good choice from all I hear.
