Title: Which pads for the 4 pot conversion
Post by: Speedy1959 on Sunday, 22 April 2018, 07:59 PM
Hi all...

I am giving very serious thought to fitting the 4 pot caliper conversion to my bike.
I am thinking of the pre refurbished ones from here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-SV-1000-K3-K4-Tokico-front-brake-calipers-refurbished-exchange-2003-2004-/181259272549

The problem is when I search for pads for the SV100 there seems to be 2 different designs..

Type 1:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-SV-1000-K3-K4-K5-K6-K7-Naked-2003-EBC-Sintered-HH-Front-Brake-Pad-Set/131726217396?hash=item1eab7e90b4:g:8csAAOSwjfNZnIr1

or Type 2:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUZUKI-SV1000S-K3-K4-K5-K6-K7-FRONT-BRAKE-PADS-03-07-EBC-FA158HH-SINTERED/140894945654?fits=UKM_Make%3ASuzuki&epid=574357605&hash=item20cdfe4176:g:ZNQAAOxyVLNS9Tlg

What are your thoughts?

think its the 2nd ones you will be after - Ive refurbed a fair few set of 4 pots and never seen a set of calipers using the 1st set

Hope this helps

Hi Speedy,
As I've found out it comes down to the year/model of bike the calipers came off, my Nissin's are off a blade but I didn't know what year, so took me a while to sus out via the bits I was ordering pins/seales etc.

Coincidently I'm going to power House on Wed to trade in a spare pair that I can't get to work!

Yes Notty but I get a refund of £100 when they have received my original calipers..
They are totally refurbished and painted to a colour of your choice..
Plus all the bolts are stainless ones..

Yeah, yeah I know I could buy crappy knackered ones and do them up myself but lately I am suffering severe "CBA" . . . .
(Cantbearseditus)!!

Noooo
I contacted them and they are fine about allowing the £100 on my 6 pots for their 4 pots..
They said "as long as your are serviceable and not seized"..
Mine are NOT seized and are definitely serviceable.

Buy cheap pair off e bay (not seized)
Then trade in against serviced/painted set with warranty!
I'm giving them my Calipers plus £70 and get the refurbed pair off them, total cost to me £100 👍
