just saw we we have 53 watchers, 8 users. sure are popular. my ride this morn was first cold morn ride. winter jacket n gloves on. our strange autumn weather delivered a 32 degree day. was a hot trip home. was very hot, a very fast harley wanted a run. great fun. hope you all had as good a day as me. adrenalin keeps this old heart beating. :boogie:
I got out on Sunday. It was great weather if a tad humid.
Who 'won' Grog?
He won, only because he filtered at ridiculous speed at lights. Not for me.
Fair enough mate, we're too long in the tooth for that sort of game!

The reason we get long in the tooth is precisely by knowing not to play that game...
And by "long in the tooth" I mean old.
And by "we" I mean you. :stir:
Yep, I'm old, but not as old as Barmy! :whistling: (and me teeth are falling out too!)
I have a mate who I ride with on a Sunday who I would describe as an aggressive filterer..
I hate filtering and rarely do it..
On Sunday he was inches from a head on smash with a car.. In fact if the car coming the other way had not taken evasive actions he would have been badly hurt or worse!
When confronted his reaction is.. "Don't fester..They will get out of my way cos they don't want to scratch their cars"..
I have told him flatly that if his idiotic riding leads to an accident then I am NOT stopping..
His other "mates" can sort it out and have their day ruined with waiting for the ambulance and having his bike picked up etc etc..
His type of riding is exactly what gets bikers a bad name...
During this particular incident at the next stop even another biker bollocked him !!
From a selfish point of view, for me its not death that worries me...
Its being in a wheel chair that worries me!
Ride safe mates.

Speedy, You've gotta "un-mate" him. Well, just don't ride with him. Each to their own, that's his way, not mine or yours either by the sound of it. Let him go for it, it's not worth it.
Is he married? Have kids? He just sounds bloody irresponsible to me.
Hi Col..
Yes he is married..
He is retired and should know better..
He has a grown up daughter that's just un emigrated from Australia (Silly woman)..
Off bike he is a nice guy..
I have only known him about 18 months...
I usually tell him I will see him at the venue.. He says "I will wait further on in case you come off"..
I tell him "I wont come off if I don't follow you"
Most of my riding is done on my own or with a Paramedic friend who got me back into biking 3 years ago..
I have known Steve (paramedic) since the age of 12 when we first attended the senior school.
He has a natural riding style that's very much like mine and I never feel pressured into riding beyond my comfort zone..
Steve is an advanced paramedic and rides the fast response motorcycles for a living.. He has been trained to a very high standard (Same as the Police training) for his job..
The funny thing is there was no one more squeamish when he was at school..
Now he is the first to get to bad accidents!
I am starting to go off subject..

Ok, a fuller picture. I still wouldn't ride with him though, maybe set off together & wave him goodbye at the first set of lights.

Totally agree with you Col..
As I said I met him for the first time about 18 months ago with 4 of his other mates..
They are all on sports bikes and are quick riders, but the other guys are not reckless.. Even they criticise him for being "aggressive"..
I do exactly as you have suggested.. I do say "see you there" and leave him to it...
I said to his mates that when he has his inevitable accident I hope its when I am not around..
Anyway.. Back to less grim posts... :)
Fully agree with you Simon.
Back to less grim. When I saw the title I thought it must be the title of a movie :rofl2:
All these watchers. Many of them come through a google search. The more posts, the more watchers we will have here. And more member too. 897 current members!
i rarely filter, to just flog a harley that has a stupid rider, ill just say see ya. he didnt win , i just chose to not be ridiculous, your mate speedy, he also sounds ridiculous.
Cheers Grog...
pity we are so far apart...
would love a ride in Oz
I filtered for 28 miles on a bank holiday Friday on the M4 when it was 3 lanes of hardly moving traffic - also the riding home from work in rush hour with my thunderbird fitted with Triumph Off Road pipes ( retired now )
LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES even louder with my new Campbells !! :smile2:
Omg wales turns in to a play erea for half the bloody country on bank holidays im from north wales and the A5 and A55 just turned in to car parks for miles and miles ( I do not miss that :frustrated: ) just impossble to get anywere with out filtering !
Although i have to say im not a fan of doing it cage drivers tend to get very agressive in hot weather and traffic jams , ive had plenty of doors opened on me when i was younger and many cars cut me up after passing them in a cue ! ... mind due they tend to get a bit calmer when you chase them down and start making gestures at the drivers window :whistling:
