Title: Clutch Issues - not my 1400 the bandit

I know its not the 1400 but looking for help from you highly intelligent fella -

My Bandit (1997 1200 with 16K) has been sitting up for a while with the engine out with no oil in it - now the engine was in the garage which is heated

so I've put all the bike back together and cannot get the clutch to disengage

I've stripped and cleaned the master cylinder - stripped and cleaned the slave cylinder (replaced the seal & spring) there is no air in the system (bleed from both cylinders) 

Im not sure what the issue is - Im leaning towards the clutch plates being stuck together due to no oil and lack of use but anything you fine chaps can shed a light on I would be most grateful

I think the only solution is to strip out the clutch and give it a good clean, rebuild it with fresh oil between the plates an it should be fine.  Probably don't even have to drain the oil.

I'd say sticky plates too. Sitting with the front brake hard on, clutch in & banging it into gear with the engine running might free it. Or try the same but hitting the starter to be less violent to it.

As said strip and check the clutch you can remover the casing without draining the oil but you might need a new gasket .

Maybe let it sit with oil in the engine for a bit. Start it occasionally to splash more oil over & around the plates, leave to sit - with the clutch pulled in, giving a positive pressure to disengage the plates. 
Might free up after a few goes at that & no more disassembly required.  Give it a couple of days doing that & just see. Costs nothing.

Del, not sure if any help or the right way to do. My old gs1000 used to always have clutch lock up if left sitting a while. I used to just roll it down the road, ride with clutch in until it freed. Always worked. My honda 4 was same but never happened on 14.

Yup, sound like the plates are stuck.

Let the friction plates soak in fresh motor oil for at least 24 hours.... Would be my first action  :)

Well gentlemen - looks like i'm on the road to gear changes - stripped the clutch out yesterday and soaked in warm oil for a good few yours - rebuilt (really wish I had taken photos 1st) - but I over came and got it all back together - then bike wouldnt start  :facepalm: pulled plugs and were foule so I replaced them this morning but I left the clutch tie wrapped in overnight to make sure they didnt stick again - fired up and with bike on big heavy duty stand I proceeded to change gears up down the box - a very slight drag but its coming to a stop when in neutral so think with some usage it'll free off the rest - thanks for all the tips gents again hats off to you

Oh top tip when you have all the steel plates together make sure you seperate them before fitting - as I thought I had put the clutch back together in wrong order fact was I had 2 of the plates fitted at same time as they were stuck together
