just a thought while browsing this great portal of knowledge and loons...
re ride outs and stuff, would there be a way of adding in your Mobile Number - its your choice to - if replying to a ride out or meet suggested by someone. My thinking is, not all are OK to get on here for up to date things and especially for me, remembering that one is on.!! A text the week before would be great for me personally...
text would only need contain Where, Date, Time of Meet.
Plus, for anyone getting lost (I'm useless without Sat Nav) there would be a list of mobile numbers of the originator of the ride out to text/call and shout "heeeeeeellllp" if youre a road-numpty like me !
Just a thought
Stoli (hic.. ! burp !)
Personally I wouldn't be comfortable having my mobile generally available on a forum for everyone to see. Whilst I'm not shy at handing it out when asked, it still enables a level of control for me that I know (usually) who has my number.
What I would recommend Stoli is put the event in your diary, with a reminder - works ok for me. Relying on others to send out texts isn't a good way or fair I don't think. Just my opinion.
Yeah I get that Barmy. Thiught of this when posting.. Hence the only if you want to as it's then your call if you list or not.
Only a wee idea. And if no one posts or happy to do please delete the post. It's not a great idea in the big scheme.. just a thought.
Trying very hard to get bike ready for the notts run... can anyone tell me where notts is !!! Hehe
Whats your mobile number Stoli.....can l give you a call when we are setting off ??
Can you leave it a day or so before calling as I think I'll be waiting up the end of our road a good while for you...
Was thinking it might give the bride a bit of advanced warning so she could get up early, make your sammies and a hot flask

You've not met my 6ft 1" German wife who neither makes sarnies or flasks
She does tell me to 'go away' in other words a lot...

Me.. on the other hand.. have no problem sharing Barmy's phone number :mwink:
Hope he does mind sharing mine :rofl2:
I think the best way to share numbers is privately via pm's rather than in an open forum
Quite a few here have my number and happy to pass on to anyone who wants it.
But I'll not put it where strangers can see it.
Also if I have someone number i'd not pass it on without the person who's number it is giving there permission.
Tho barmy and jay's numbers are fair game as they are admin :stir:
Ya left out the 'out' Seth. Had to get in before Barmy did.
& Vlads number is "0900kangaroo" for anyone who want it.

I see where you are coming from but....
I'd not recommend openly publishing mobile numbers on the internet. They WILL get collected by a 'bot and you are very likely to get SMS spam as a result.
If you mean that the forum could send out texts etc... not going to happen. Costs too much money and also involves people's personal details being passed to third party, and I;m not comfortable with that..
