Title: Power commander 111
Post by: Ktmjunkie on Tuesday, 03 April 2018, 10:27 PM
Hi all
I've neglected my 14 for a couple of months since I brought my 990.. I thought I had better start the old girl up. Turns over great but doesn't even try to fire,  so check all the obvious, kill switch, clutch and side stand switch. No FI light just won't fire.
Then I read about a problem richard has with his so I by passed the power commander , Bingo , fired straight up. So why do these things fail it's only been stood there a while. I read that Q can't do much with these as they are packed in resin. So anyone got one kicking about they want to sell me ??
Put it back in line after she started and nothing so deffo the PC.

Contact powercommander/dynajet customer service they should be able to sort it and if not give a massive discount on a powercommander v as pc111 no longer available.

They say they can't go wrong so will repair or replace when they do go wrong.

Always worth a try anyway.

How about corrosion of the connectors? Give contact spray a try.

I've sent Dynojet a email, we will see what they say. Connections all look clean and good.

If not Gordon try re-loading the firmware (I've put the link in Richard's thread) - assuming you have the original map stored. But hopefully Dynojet will sort you, they are (or were) pretty good

Cheers Dave, after a couple of emails to Dynojet, they have asked me to return the unit to them. Watch this space.

Cheers buddy
Just make sure you keep a back up of your map with you in case they replace the unit or have to wipe it to repair it .

Well, superb customer service from Dynojet UK . 5 days after I posted it off it arrives back on my doorstep. Latest firmware loaded and new ground cable as earth path was significantly damaged.
Best bit is no charge. Now fitted back to bike and seams to be running good, will take it out at the weekend.

Well took it out and not fixed. Still running like a bag of shite. So today changed plugs. Checked all connections. Removed fuel pump and cleaned out filters. Cleaned connections on ECU. Ticks over ok but under load runs like shite , missing and back fireing.🙁 runs the same with or without PC. So back to the drawing board

Yes Dave maybe, Tony b is coming down to mine on Saturday so we can swap bits over and try to get to the bottom of it.

Mine does a hell of a double backfire under load if the clutch switch is bypassed.

Not yet dave Tony is down on Saturday so we swap bits over . Coils , tank to eliminate pump. ECU if they are compatible. Cheers Hooli I'll try that too. If all else fails I have it booked in at Steve Jordan's on 2nd June . Going for a custom map too 🙂

One thing that you may check which may not be obvious Gordon - I seem to recall years ago, one guy having a problem with poor running and it turned out to be a hairline crack in one of the coil brackets. Just something to visually check when Mr B is down Saturday.

It might also be worth trying another set of plugs - could be that with the PCIII going off, it might have done those in possibly
