Title: Tasmania ride
Post by: GSX1400OZ on Thursday, 22 March 2018, 04:34 PM
Just spent 10 days over in Tasmania, mainly the east Coast, the place is absolutely gorgeous and well worth a visit, accomodation can be exy if you're doing the motel/hotel thing but WTF, it's a holiday right..?
Had great weather until we hit the NW west coast then the wind and rain kicked in, got soaked but had 8 great days, we did 3600klm from leaving South Australia to riding back up the driveway, bike needs a bloody good wash and we're knackered, but I would do it again in a heartbeat..
We managed to take in the Great Ocean road on the way back , that was fantastic too..

The bike went perfectly and i reckon we used around 8 or 9 tanks of fuel, maybe 10 hard to say for sure because..1.. we didn't really take too much notice, ..2 Tank wasn't always near empty when we topped up, nearly ran out once or twice too but thats was our fault for not topping up when we should have..
Speedo ( according to GPS) reads around 5kph fast at 110kph so figure true kkk's was a bit more..
anyhow, i'll try post up some pics later and a bit of an itinerary . If I can remember how to transfer pics from my phone to the forum..

Cheers
Mick

Here's a pic from the GOR, it was a wee bit windy and wet and we were kinda trying to get home as we were knackered, so not many pics at this point in time..

Sounds like you had a great trip. Have heard Tassie is a bit like NZ.... the rain sounds similar.
Look forward to seeing some snaps.

I  took heaps more pics and the Mrs kept diary,  so I'lll post more pics when I work out where they were taken, it reminded me of Scotland  Wales Ireland and England all rolled into one smallish "country.. '

Might head to NZ next when the funds are available, it looks an amazing place..

For those interested, the Oxford saddlebags  bags were great and seem like a real solid bit of kit, tank bag was a MotoDry bought at the last minute as I figured a bit more storage would be good, i haven't ever used a magnetic tank bag before but it worked well, have to admit I thought it would bugger off into the countryside soon as we went over 60kph, but it didn't budge.. well impressed.. :)

We toured Taz in 2009, ( by car, too far for the bike). From Diving in Bicheno to the high life of Hobart ( well, a good whisky bar), vineyards to deserted towns, it was a fantastic place.

Would love to tour it on two wheels for a couple of weeks.  :clapping:
