Here in sub-tropical south east Queensland we are not overly familiar with the concept of winter, and ride our bikes all year.
Yeah I know it's a tough gig but someone has to do it, right ?!
So when you guys in the UK talk about your riding season... when do you mean?
Scotland, 56 years old past freezing and fed up cleaning after every ride so starts about April until September occasional rides before and after
Only 6 months?
Mate, Scotland is beautiful but you gotta move !
Yeah and out of those 6 months it rains most days if I chose to ride to work
When its sunny

For me it is all year - last year the coldest I rode in was -9 and it was hellish but I detest public transport so needs must
I usually start to see a few more bikes in Glasgow area about March through to September.
Its at the start of teh season that you hear about a lot more offs as folks forget that they got rusty not riding and the come out at the start of the season still think there MotoGP riders
Ride Safe
Started the season today - until i got home and saw all the salt - so March it is !! :smile2:
150 miles today only heavy rained the last 30ish rest was dry and a nice day out

Minus 9! What tyres do you have on? Studded ice tyres?
Bugger that, I'd be taking public tspt in those temps.
You're a very brave man Del.
it was -4°c 3 weeks ago when i took the red/black 14 for the M.O.T.
was +7°c today tropical till it rained
All year round for me usually on the GSX. Apart from this year where I've had my op. I haven't ridden since the end of December and won't be able to until mid to end of April.
The Bandit however only comes out to play on dry sunny days..So not very often :imrgreen:
Strictly April -Oct for me, to enjoy it the roads have to.be dry and salt free otherwise too much lime hardwork

surely in the winter a primer coloured 14 is the one to have as they are the slowest if all and easiest to see .
All year for me, heated gloves and waistcoat  but i wont start a ride in the rain. todays ride was about 6deg and the roads were wet all day but no rain.
I usually put my bike back on the road around the middle of March ,the council have stopped the dreaded salt by then
I no longer ride in the winter because I hate the cold and damp ,must be getting old :shocked:Wait a minute I am old !!!!
yes i bike all year round to we do get a lot of wind and rain down here .
and with the sea salt as well it can be a bitch on the bike and -5 to 7 in ice patches is no fun when you have the beast we all ride
i do make sure i am well wrapped up going to work , look like a fat Eskimo on the bike lol
but we also do get a fair amount of sun through the summer so not all to bad and France is only hour away
In this pic is that your GSX or your Rocket Touring? I saw your route map on the Rocket Owners facebook page, I also have a GSX1400 and a Rocket Touring.
Done all year round riding before I had a car. Not now.
Once council dump last load of salt on the roads. And it has rained to wash it off. 14 will come out. In other words March to early October. My 14 is just for a hobby. Nothing more.
Mine is daily transport and a hobby. The Land Rover Defender hardly gets a run these days.
I can certainly understand wanting to avoid salt !!!!
Makes alloy dissolve...
I'm all year round , but then thats normal as I dont live in UK
although Moonie did spring this SHIT on me in north France in 2012
hey tallman thats good biking weather if ive ever saw any bruuuuuu cold looking mate
Thats great biking weather that.. You can still see the tarmac........
:clapping: thats not tarmac thats black snow :rofl2:
Nope, i can still see 100% of the tyre!!
Perfect biking weather.....
hes hard as nails ,, he has no gloves on :onya:
F@#k that white stuff and all that salt - I'm with Vlad!!
yes i only like it when i am sking and welcome to the org beaker
Hi Beaker !!!!!
I'm lucky enough to be able to ride all year, even when it's winter it rarely gets below zero.
If my bikes clean I won't go out in the wet but if it's still dirty from the last ride I'm happy to go out.
it was effin nippy this morning on the commute - thank the heavens for heated gloves
I also had the Mrs on the back, it took us 2 days to get home which should have been about 8 - 10 hours, she never complained once and still loves going places on the bike defo a keeper
Up here and the west coast of Scotland last summer we were still seeing snow on the slopes of Glenncoe......for me, end of march til the end of september.....bike gets a good pampering over the winter...but I'd love to be able to ride all the yr round......
Top lady you have there mate :onya:
I ride all year round, the only exception is when the council dump tons of salt on the road.
