For small touch up areas on the frame (both scratches and surface rust on weld joints that's been scraped off) would you suggest an enamel paint or Hammerite smooth ?
Or is there another paint that's better / more durable?
And before its suggested... Noooo I don't want to strip my bike down and have the frame powder coated !!!
I usually use hammerite as it has rust inhibiters in it .
I touched in with enamel and then covered the area with a suitably cut piece of helicopter tape to stop it rubbing through again
I use a gloss black from a rattle can. Plasti Cote I think it's called, you guys can get it over there too. We did the frame touch up post a while ago & others could get the same paint. Pretty good match for the original black - to me, not to Red though. Indians have 50 words for snow, reckon Red has 50 shades of black - that's probably his new book title eh?
"50 Shades of Black" By Red Biker :stir:
@Red Biker
I use plasticote too as it's free from work . :boogie:
Well that's 2 of us anyway Seth, but I have to buy mine. Not expensive though, think $18 - $21 a can, would be expensive if it were beer at that price though.
Thank you all for yu fast responses.

There's an idea Col :salute: I'd buy that book!
I use plastikote HTP for pipes calipers etc but do use the Hammerite on the frame sometimes on top of the plastikote.
I like Platikote as it comes with a technical nozzle for us amateurs!
As Barmy says, for stress points such as the heel area, I use Black vinyl or Heli tape.
Did I mention Calipers have gone Black??
Hi Red....
I too have Black Callipers but they were done by the previous owner..
I do like them though..
Treat yourself to a very small modellers brush. I got for Hammerite applied by a tiny brush.
I used one of those for the caliper logo Basil :onya:
good idea Red.
