Well said gentlemen.

Unfortunately the word "genius" is over-used these days, but Prof Hawking was the genuine article. When I think about what he achieved with a body that was next to useless, it puts my problems into perspective.

A sad day, but future generations much smarter than us will build on his work.

Agree with all the above and thanks for sharing your profound intellectual knowledge of our world & space.  You made a difference.  RIP Mr Hawking.

Not just a loss to science, a role model to us all. I sometimes whinge about aches and pains, then you see him and think, "f..k, I'm a tart"

A great loss, but can you imagine the conversation when he meets Einstien?

One of the things he strongly believed could never happen  ;)

Agree...

Couple of my favourite quotes:

"If aliens ever visit us, I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn't turn out very well for the Native Americans."

"Success in creating artificial intelligence would be the biggest event in human history. Unfortunately, it might also be the last"

Smart guy...
:salute:

Not a bad innings for a bloke who,  in 1964 after exhibiting symptoms of motor neurone disease, was told he'd probably only live another two years....

I would imagine he's already convinced God that he doesn't exist!

Some absoluite geat quotes from him, most serious, some funny, all interesting...

https://www.brainyquote.com/authors/stephen_hawking

QuoteWe only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn't want to meet.

QuoteIf aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn't turn out well for the Native Americans.

and

Quote
My ideal role would be a baddie in a James Bond film. I think the wheelchair and the computer voice would fit the part.
