As per the title.
Had a night mare cleaning 14 up. Autumn I could not get a vac-bag - so plumped for the usual dousing bike in WD40. All went well until cleaning chrome headers. Nothing was gonna shift the burnt on WD. I tried all in my armoury. Mr Sheen, Belgom alu, chrome polish and the failsafe - neat petrol. Nothing worked. Step forward Brasso wadding. Bingo. Non abrasive too. Stunned how it cleaned all the chrome up. 10/10.
Just fitted a Delkevic collector. I had a SBS/Black widow collector fitted previously. I was never happy with it's appearance. All brown stainless. Well, I'd heard about this Harpic max 10 (Black bottle). £1-00 from ASDA. Missus wanted some for the toilets. So, did I...
Well, I honestly wish I'd taken a before and after photo. Get goggled up. Marigold gloves too. Apply with a brush - agitate then go for a cuppa/piss/dump. I'm still shocked how they came up. I have tried everything. Polishing mops/belgom alu/autosol. You name it.
We are missing a trick here. You could go buy lots of bottles of this Harpic. Rebrand it "Stainless motorcycle downpipes cleaner" and charge £15+.
It looks brand new. Well chuffed.
I think it was me that actually started the Harpic Max 10 idea..I discovered it by accident really when I just tried a bit on my exhaust system..Works a treat!
It's all over Facebook as everyone it raving about it. Wish I had shares in the company as their sales must have rocketed :imrgreen:
Froudy - you need a knighthood for motorcycle cleaning. :notworthy:
Missus did wonder how it all started...!!

That's fine by me...Sir Froudy does have a nice ring to it :hat:
Not wanting to be a party pooper but Harpic Max 10 contains Hydrochloric Acid, which is corrosive to most grades of stainless steel.
No doubt it cleans your pipes, but I would guess it's also eating them slightly.
I actually only used it on the collector box underneath the bike. I've never needed to use it on the headers. Solvo and a rag is the most abrasive I get near the headers..Maybe a worn green pot scourer if there's something really stubborn on them.

A quick wash with normal soapy water would instantly neutralise the Hcl, perhaps do this first then wash the bike?
I am making a note of all these excellent tips, now, do they sell Harpic in France? Er, no. Doh!
I would think that any strong bleach would be just as good. :hat:

No, but my wife will not use it
Reckon pickling paste would make short work of a toilet. Especially a stainless bowl like ya used to get in public loos'. That stuff would eat anything, fingers, skin, anything.

Problem is you cant get this in the UK
Yrs ago, mate had gsx1100 rat bike. He decided to clean off 5 yrs of built up crud from motor. He used some caustic stuff you spray on mag wheels then hose off. It just wrecked it. Brown marks, engine covers that were semi shiny went grey. Whole motor, just pock marked. He loved it. Still going 37 yrs old.

You might have to wait. I reckon Sir Barmy should be our first Knight of the Realm for services to cleaning. :notworthy:
By the way, there are quite a few videos on Youtube on how to make your own Harpic.
Have to correct my last post - just found Harpic 10 in the black bottle (actually 3 different variants?) In a French supermarket.
On offer in Tesco for a pound - not the citrus so not so sweet smelling !! :)
Honestly this stuff is the business. I would not leave on overnight. But, 5-10 minutes agitated in with an old brush/fibre pad - saves hours with a polishing mop/polishes etc. I used one of those fibre scouring pads that the missus used for the pots and pans.
Is it the Harpic 10 original? We have 3 different types :undecided:

No problem buy some bottles and send them to my friends in UK. But postage can be killer.
