Looking for info from some of you technical minded folk.
Just upgraded my phone so now can use a much bigger sd card ip from 32gb to 256gb so my question is when looking for a
256 micro sd card there is so much difference in price and specifications !
So what am i looking for to get the most of it in my phone ?
Cheers in advance

Was looking at memory cards last week. Sandisc extreme seems best but expensive. 128 gb max. Cnet worth looking at, best reviews on stuff ive found. Just tell it as it is.
Prices, like quality vary enormously but you cant go wrong with sandisk, make sure it's at least a class 10.
As long as you choose something branded you'll be fine. I would go for Samsung, Kingston or Sandisk. No real preference between those.
They'll all be plenty fast enough to record 4K video, which is as fast as most people need to go.
The main thing is to buy from a reputable dealer and not eBay as too many copies on there. Amazon is generally better for getting genuine cards.
As Mr F says above, Kingston, Sandisk, Samsung all good, my personal preference is Sandisk.
Cant remember I had any issues with genuine Sandisk. Use them at work.
For my GoPro,I get Lexar x633 128Gb card, and I had problem with it, when it was not possible to write or delete anything from this card. At the same time, file read was working OK. Get it exchanged by warranty, and since then no issues.
Kingston is also quite reliable. Samsung PRO is also OK.
just remember - sd card is not for longtime storing. Backup all the data you want to keep, and in case of card failure, demage will be minor.

I need the card to extend the memory in my new phone.
Looking at 256gb one because that's the biggest i can use/put in it .
I think i found a 200gb sandisc one for £63 as all the 256gb ones seam to be around £100.
Thanks for all the info and input.

How much crap are you keeping on your phone ??
I'll admit mine annoys me when I have to delete some stuff - at a measly 32Gb internal storage and no SD card. (Galaxy Note 5). Otherwise it's a great phone. To get an SD card I'd have to spend megabucks on a Note 8 which is too big physically to fit in a pocket. The answer all the phone companies give for this? "The Cloud".
Yeah that'd be great in Japan, USA, maybe even UK where mobile data plans are reasonably priced. Not here.
I have an app OsmAnd+ maps it stores the maps in the phone (so I don't need to be online to use as a satnav) so my S5 was full with stuff and the sd card is full of maps .
Just got a S7 so still 32gb Internal storage
Hence the bigger as card requirement.

Would that be this one on Amazon Seth?

That's what I was looking at Dave is it any good as it's not 256 but should hold enough data ?
In terms of is it any good, then usually sellers on Amazon are vetted so I would be happier it's genuine. I've bought my ones through Amazon for my camera and had no issues. Just keep the packaging and details of the seller as Amazon will assist if there is any issue.
200Gb should be more than enough, however, it all depends what size maps you want loaded at any one time, as routes typically - at least on my TomTom - don't take up much space. Best way to check is with the application/map supplier, they should be able to advise. Also check that the phone/app will work with a 200Gb card as normally cards come in 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 or 256 - so divisible by 8. 200is not one I've come across before so it's possible the app may not be able to manage an irregular size (it may sound silly but I have had that before).
if you seriously need that much space for maps, your doing something wrong lol.. If you had said 4K and HD videos and pics i could understand it but not maps... Most sat navs and similar devices have a max of 8gig storage and you will always find they are half empty.. Maps SHOULD take up next to no space at all.. 200gig is more than most basic full spec PC systems need let alone a phone....
Just thinking if I'm spending on extra memory than get the max I can.
The maps I have taken up half a 32gb micro sd card but i have to disabled or remove some for my bigger trips so just want the space .
Better to have and not need than need and not have.
I don't intend buying another sd card for many years.
This new phone can take a 256gn micro sd card.

In which case the 200Gb card sounds good value for your requirements, more than enough and then some for your maps and trips without having to delete.
