Title: Hayabusa
Post by: VladTepes on Tuesday, 13 February 2018, 04:35 PM
Well we've had a B King thread (http://gsx1400owners.org/forum/index.php?topic=1982.0) but I don't think we've had a 'Busa one.

Perhaps in a few years time I might be able to add another bike to the stable.
I certainly will not be getting rid of the 14.

I had considered a B-King but the tank width and capacity puts me off a bit, but for some time now I've had a hankering for a Busa, specifically a 2013 (or later) Gen 2.  I gather ABS was introduced in 2013?

So... what to look out for?

What mods are good, what should be avoided etc.

As its much cheaper to buy bikes already modded than stock then buying the mods later - what should I be looking for in this regard?

Any particular issues that should be checked pre-purchase?

What do people consider the best colour scheme?

For the Aussies -

There aren't many on bikesales. Where's the best place to find them for sale?

What would be good price for a decent one?
As the 2013 bike is, I gather, substantially the same as the 2018 ( ? ), an earlier one would be fine.

This really is all just 'research' for now, I'm not in the market just now, but any and all info people can provide would be welcome.

Once Mrs Vlad realises he's looking at another bike, he won't be getting one. :happy1:

I don't know why but I'm more inclined towards the ZX14R.

I'm currently looking for another one.

Either a Gen-1 or maybe a write off / light damage Gen-2.
Both have pro's and con's.

I have various spares for both models.

I do like the ZX14R. I've ridden a later model with the Ohlins etc and they really are nice. As nice as a Busa or for some folk maybe even better.....

..... when they are standard.

If you like to chop and change, mod your bike, find more horsepower, go faster, go REALLY fast, win world wheelie comps, set land speed world records, set horsepower records, have a HUGE back up of spares, knowledge, accessories etc etc.... the Busa really is the weapon of choice.

Who doesn't want (need) a 258mph / 415kph streetbike ?

OK, OK, so that's being very silly, but it's a good example of how good the design really is. The aerodynamic, the motors potential, how tough they are. Not bad for a 19 year old design.

Meant to post that for ya last night Tony. WOW. Did i read they turned the power down for that run? 1000bhp to 600 odd. Not sure on that. Road registered. Looks good i reckon. Saw one last week, hes had it chrome wrapped, might sound silly but it just looks amazing.

Wow, from a distance it hardly looks modified at all.

I know they said it was road legal but I would love to watch them trying to get insurance for it.

Here, near the north pole, turbo didn't make any difference to insurance, 120+50€/year :cheesy:

Shouldn't be a problem.

As Sean builds crazy stuff and has done for many years in guessing his work / shop / trade policy would cover it.

Reviving this specific Hayabusa thread is probably the best place for this question..

A new Kat and a new Busa were both on my "2019 Possibles" list but both got crossed off.

Why'd the 2019 'busa get the arse?  Just because there isn't one ?  :stir:

There is a 2019 Busa, the US got theirs a while back.

I asked Suzuki Australia a while back and they said at the time the "19" was coming to Australia, but a different source told me there will be no 19's in Australia until all 18's are sold out.

Typical Suzuki the "new" 19 model is exactly the same as the current 18 model except for the paint, so no real reason the bring in new stock to sit alongside devalued current bikes.

2019 colours.
I don't mind the black.

I'm off to look at a bike tomorrow.

No new 19 Busa, no new 19 H2 SX SE+ yet.

Got a couple of bikes to have a look at as alternate possibles.

I've had offers on my 14 and B-King but not enough to part with them.

I might de-register the Busa as I rarely use it and want to do a rebuild.

Made an offer on another bike that's looking quite positive.

The 14 might end up as a work horse, the King for the drags..... maybe.

Either way, something will be bought or sold by Saturday.

By pure chance yesterday driving down towards Aust.Zoo. white Busa in front of me. 80k zone. I was just plodding along behind thinking how good/ loud it sounded. Next thing hes up it, out around cars, up on back wheel. Then it really sounded nice and just kept it going. Id say 2nd gear rev out with wheel way up. Looked impressive.

Title: Re: Hayabusa

It's quite easy to ride a Busa at GSX1400 speeds.

The torque isn't a million miles different, the revs and gearing aren't that different.

I can commute or do a lap of the dams at the same speed on either bike without drama.

You just need to resist the temptation to hold it open and watch the world go into reverse, but that the same with the modern 1000cc sportsbikes to.

I like the tail, the GSXR rear end is a popular mod.

The rest of it is a bit strange, more of a custom cruiser than a Streetfighter.
