ok it's been suggested we have another Scottish meet up (a scottish mcr if enough interest)
so looking to see who's interested and what folk want ?
so names .
time of year may/june or august/september.
part of scotland
highlands or west coast area
where to stay.
camping/bunk-house/hotel/log cabins/ other
1 night or 2 or more .
and i will see what i can arrange .
seth
Im up for this mate but defo no camping for these old bones - log cabin or hotel :onya:
I would prefer the West coast / Skye if possible...
I too would want a hotel / guest house..
Cant be arsed camping..
Sorry !
i know of hotels and glamping pod places and bunk houses next to pubs .I'd prefer something like this too
would want to be able to book the whole place for just us so numbers are needs to find the right size place.
Like I said earlier (other thread), I can't promise anything at this time but would love to come. I have to wait until end of April before I can make a decision. Given the "advanced" age of the majority it seems sensible to have rooms. And the summer in Scotland can be a muddy experience on a camping ground. Not something I want.
I'd be up for this Seth, did East coast last year so West would be perfect.
Pods/ B&B's perfect 👍
ok will start a bit of basic research
will look at hotels, bunk-houses and b&b
north and east of perth area's
Could possibly do second half of May or August, but not June or September. And yes, I too think my camping days are done, so somewhere with a decent bed, shower and bar would be perfect.
But see what dates you can get seth and I'll see if I can "nip up" north of the border
Hi Seth I am keen need dates well in advance tho. If not staying overnight I will defo visit.
Looks like this is a goer Seth, good on ya!!
Nice one Kiwicol, going for furthest traveld?
I'd be there in spirit only Bob, - probably Jim Beam or Jack Daniels spirit, but there nevertheless.

Hope it all comes together & you all have a great catchup 🍻🥃🎉
Hell yeah count me in ..... pretty much anytime from 1st April :onya: :brainfart: Just remembered that 1st of April is Easter Sunday. Which begs the question ... Anyone doing the Easter egg run this year?
It's also April Fools' Day :whistling:

It is true Andre. 1st of April is the day of fools here in the UK :onya: And lets be honest there are plenty of them around. Though most of these fools, but not all :cheesy: are 4 wheel fools
Like the idea of coming over :onya:
All depending on date and costs :undecided:
Well I might consider this myself as it looks like there may be a distillery or two in the area :whistling:
It might be good to meet up on the way up as I will be coming from the very south :cheesy:

so my thinking is
the north end of the A9 south of inverness easy access to speyside and west coast.
friday and saturday nights.
looking at b&b , pods and hotels not camping.
possibly early august or 1st weekend in october .
looking like around 10 folk interested so far .
let me know if this fits

Augustus and the first half of september are already spoken for due to school holidays.
I would prefer the october option
I would love Inverness, I was tempted to suggest it :onya:
Hi Seth I also not bothered where we go its just good crack and banter with us 1400 boys.
Regards
wig :salute: :salute:wham
Are you a pod or a tent Wigwam ? 😩
also this is open to all not just folk in scotland
Would love to join Seth.... just too far for me and really don't fancy spending the hours and hours of riding on motorways...
Now...if someone came up with a teletransporter thingie... :happy1:
maybe have to do a european meet up one day.

Watching with interest....
Let's see what you come up with, my GSX has taken me across 14 ( I think) European countries but has never yet crossed Hadrain's wall.
My caravan has been lugged around the Western Highlands many times and I have wished I was on the bike instead :)
I also rented a chalet here once for a weekend, is it worth consideration?

Just an option you may not be aware of. https://www.nightjet.com/ausstattung/automotorrad.html (https://www.nightjet.com/ausstattung/automotorrad.html) Would still make for a long journey but keeps you of the motorways and you might catch a snooze or two.

I am easy Seth as I can pretty much fit in with anyone..
From what I know of the Scottish weather I would not go too near to October as thats practically winter !!

July is winter North of Blackpool Simon !! :smile2:
over the last 15 years it seams we get good weather in spring (april/may) and autumn (September/October)
and very wet summers but happy to arrange anytime .
was thinking early part of the year might still be to early for this year to get things in place .
Hi seth this looks good i am interested and im not far from you so could join up on the way , im prity easy to on when as you say though we usually have good starts and ends to the year .
Hi Seth any news on the Scottish meet ?
Hiya yes I've been looking at a few places along the A9 between Perth and Inverness.
Waiting on prices and numbers I think we have about 12ish so far interested
1st weekend in October seamed to be best option.
If anyone else is interested let me know so I can narrow things down
Ok narrowed down to Newtonmore hostel choice of 2 for the first weekend in October.
Looking like £20 each for 16 folk in bunks
I need to know who is up for it
I've added blubber and Andre as this is a UK thread
@Blubber @Andre So I can take things further
On your phone again Seth? Autocorrected to 'thinks' when I reckon you wanted 'things'

I do have a house for sale on the northeast coast .
You should come up anyway
Told ya, I'll be on Bute with the new missus if/when it happens.
If I come she'll be with me too, depends on how I'm doing for leave at work etc.
You did say but God loves a tryer
Hopefully if we get enough interest it'll happen .
I know there will be folk who can't commit untill the last minute but if we get 16 then the place I have I mind can add extra folk with no problem .
Bute is a lovely place my Mrs has friends there.
@seth Currently it looks unlikely that I will come.
Hopefully we'll catch up over the summer at some point
I hope so too.
I would love to come to Scotland. Just to many issues I can't judge until shortly before. Better not to commit.
I seen 1 place that's £480 for the whole place needs a minimum of 16 to book it but can sleep 26 at no extra cost .
So need 16 for there then it's a go .
I think I'm going to have to pass as well Seth unfortunately
you can book 2 for me and the misses !
I'm 90% there Seth, happy to vomit to a deposit if required :onya:
Lol commit
Sorry Seth can't commit just now like I said definitely visiting but might not be able to stay over
Cheers
Allan
Put me as a possible, never ridden that far before but hey, sounds like a plan.
First weekend in October looks OK to me.
Is there a dirtiest bike competition?
Saves me cleaning the bike.
Oh a dirty bike comp! I've been practicing for years at that.
They'll all look the same after 2 days in Scotland!!
Pfft, don't make me post pics. Poor Barmy still hasn't recovered from when I did that on the Org!

Although I would still love to tour Scotland on the bike instead of hauling the caravan around, I think I would struggle to make that date.
This year's run to Europe has been booked for the last two weeks in September so the first weekend in October would encounter some resistance from work and the wife.
I wish you success though, I'm sure a good time will be had by those who can attend and credit to you for getting it together.
Pete.
So.... Who Is going?
Would hate to see this being cancelled.
Got permission from the misses, got the route from Newcastle to Newtonmore already figured out... So i AM ready to go :smoke:
I've lost track, what are the dates? might be worth putting them in the thread title.
First weekend in October - which I make Friday 5th - Sunday 7th (if it's wrong

There'll be no wild haggis safe that weekend.
So what's the plural of Haggis then? Haggisses or Haggi? maybe? If you have 3 of them are they referred to as a Gaggle? or a herd?

Ok slight change of accommodation as the other places I've been looking at are no longer available
So for 16 people (all in twin rooms) At the www.royaldunkeld.co.uk hotel we can get b&b for £1104
So including breakfast that works out at £69 each(£34.50 pppn) for the weekend of Friday 5th leaving on Sunday 6th .
It's a little further south than I was looking for but everything is still very accessible from dunkeld A9 and north A93 deeside and speyside via several routes.

We can sort nearer the time if everyone's cool with that :whatever:
McRed
Blubber coming via the Newcastle ferry maybe earlier.
But it would be good for you travelling from the south to meet up on route to the highlands.
Mr McRed.. (lol)
I can meet up with you on the way up yonder..
I see you will be using the A1(M)
I will be using the M6
As you suggested Carlisle would be a logical point for the merging of like minded souls..
McSpeedy
I'm riding up from Doncaster but I'm not convoying with you lot!
Mainly as I'll be on the Isle of Bute the night before & coming across the Trossachs, Clainlarich, edge of Loch Tay as a rough route from a quick look at a map.
Lovely route Hooli, I did part of that last year in the twilight!!
Hey all :hat: I been away for a bit n doin nuthin in particular (otherwise know as WORK) And I will be kept workin like a beeeaatch for the distant future .... It might sound like I'm complaining :frustrated: .... And if it sounds like that to you ... then my job is done coz I'm sure as hell disliking working long hours  ANYWAY !!! A bike meet in October ... In Scotland ... I'm guessing that riding in budgie smugglers is compulsory ??? Well then Seth .. I think I can give you a definite and a committed, non committal to the weekend away. I normally SORN my bike on the last day of September. But ... I could be persuaded to postpone it for a week. Will need to check if I can get the Friday off. With the way work is going for me just now .... there is a chance ... that my next shift will be finishing round about October
Hi seth payment sent :onya:

Anyone going on this travelling up the A1?
I'm near Cambridge and will be leaving at Sparrow Fart and can meet up en route.
There will be mandatory stop for tea n bacon... n sausage etc etc.
Stoli.
Any luck on double rooms for couples yet Seth?
Not yet the worst case is the beds can be pushed together but I'm going to visit the hotel before we go and hopefully they can make the rooms for couples into doubles .

Been and spoken to the hotel this afternoon just to say hello and let them know we are coming .
They will convert the twin rooms to doubles for the couple's
They will keep a space for our bikes in the car park next to the rooms.
The car park is just past the hotel heading north 20meters on the left round the back of the hotel we will use the 2nd car park.
The bar is open till midnight both nights with longer for residents if we want 😜(Just remember the drink driving limit is lower up here than in the rest of the uk)
The restaurant is available there looks a good selection and reasonably priced with last orders at 8pm .
If we want to eat after 8pm we can sort out nearer the time.
Was thinking of booking a table for 7pm on the Friday for everyone as a get together welcome.(if you don't want to be included just say)
The owner of the hotel has bikes and happy to assist us with our weekend.
We can go for a ride out on the Saturday so ideas welcome (The direction might have to be weather dependant)
Loads of great roads and scenery in any direction .
:smitten:
Would be rude not the visit the forts nearby and go to sky....
But that on my Thursday / Friday list :onya:
I'll have to look at a map & think when I'm not meant to be working. Should be quite possible to do some decent riding from there.
I've just had a quick look, it's not far to the A93 Spittal of Glenshee that is an excellent road with a cafe at the top in the ski centre. We could workout a lap of Cairngorms including that without too much hassle.
Depends how far people want to go?
Was thinking of glenshee then up to tomintoul .then back down the A9 .There are also a good few distilleries in the dunkeld area to so it would mostly depend on the weather as to which way we go .
A889 into the top of Dalwhinnie is good too from memory, would be easy to add to your loop if you've not thought of it.

Funny you should mention that.
In my notes:
A93 to A939 - Perth to Kinloss .. stop at Lecht Road .. the ski centre :onya:
Best to do without a pillion or other luggage.. road surface was testing the limits of the suspension.
Guess thats the saturday sorted
I was there sunday & can confirm the road is also fun in cars. Sideways over crests as I braked into bends...
Hopefully we get a good safe run :onya:

For the best route in current traffic visit https://goo.gl/maps/b4KEZbUHLRv
(Hope this works)
It says it's 4 hours (without stops)and 173 miles
There are several places to stop for fuel but suggest everyone fills up in Perth before arriving at the hotel on Friday as fuel will be cheaper there .
Lunch stop will be tomintoul or aviemore depending how we are getting on .
There is a wide veritiy of roads from sweeping A roads to single track with passing places to duel carriageways all with amazing views
P.s. still 1 twin room left I will cancel at end of August if not takers
Seth
Looks like I'll be having a sore ass.
Probably on the GTR14 to alleviate the above somewhat!!!
Stoli
I'll not be riding 4 hours non-stop
I didn't think the Google map think would work but happy it has .
There are no short cuts it's also why I thought about an anti-clockwise route as better doing the more challenging roads first.

sounds brilliant Seth.
Looks good to me & I prefer the A93 in that direction as the twisties gradually get wider and faster as you head up the valley.
Looks good Seth, thanks for all the research :onya:
Just a reminder incase anyone not seen or new folk fancy coming to this meet up weekend .
I still have 1 twin bed room (2 single beds) available .
Cost is £69 per person b&b for Friday and Saturday nights .
Ride around the cairngorms on the Saturday for those interested .
This room will be cancelled if it's not booked at the start of September.

A mate of mine went over on ferry yesterday for "Thunder in the Glen" think he's at Aviemore now.
I think I'll be riding solo for this now. Mrs Hooli doesn't think she can do the distance on a bike anymore so may well not be coming.
@seth do you know when I'd need to know for sure to cancel her booking & get a refund on it?
Ok buddy
I'll see what I can do hopefully we have an even number of folk so it all works out and we can sort out getting the cash back .
The rooms are twins so hopefully we can make sure it's an even number as there is no price for single use .
I'll do what I can tho and I'm sure it'll work out .
If you know some who wants to come instead then that also works .
Fair enough, if it works out it works out. If not then never mind, you can all buy be a pint to even it out
Thats a deal even if just to drowned your sorrows after the breakdown the other week .
I will be selling a Renntec luggage rack which I can bring to the Scottish meetup.
It is the Chrome version and its in 1st class condition with NO rust or scratches.
Included with the rack are the longer bolts and spacers !!
I mention it here because if any of you going to the Scottish meet up want it then
A: You can see it fitted to my bike (if I use my bike... Bad weather means the car).
B: I can fit it to your bike.
There is a certain knack to fitting them as I found out!
If no one is interested then I will NOT fit it to my bike for the trip.
£50 fitted inc Bolts and spacers..
Literally like new !
I can post photos if you want them (Rack is NOT fitted to my bike at the moment).

Plans are
We have a table booked for all at 7.30pm on the Friday they have a good menu (we've been a couple of times) that's reasonably priced.
Then a few drinks for those who do over the evening.
Saturday morning breakfast till 9.30 then I've planned a tide out 173 miles over the day anti-clockwise around the cairngorms stopping in breamar, tomintoul, aviemore and pitlochry. For lunch/dinner depending on times will be at 1 of the town's probably tomintoul or aviemore .
Then back to dunkeld for the night .
Sunday breakfast till 9.30 then check out and head away to home or what ever other plans folk have.
Thanks Seth,
For the Southerners, we mentioned meeting up!
I'll be heading up the A1 from Newark time tbc but fairly early.
@ Speedy are you still on for meeting up around North East?
Cheers
Red
Hi Mr Red..
Did I hear Carlisle mentioned for meeting you ??
S
Hi Speeds,
Yeah looking at the map we can come over the Dales to Penrith and head North from there, maybe A7 instead of the A74 would be more fun as we head into sweaty territory
Only thing I would say is try to keep away from the Edinburgh bypass (A720)and forth road bridge(M90) around rush hour in the Friday 2.30-4.30 as traffic is bonkers but better on the bike if your ok with filtering.
One past Edinburgh or Glasgow head to Perth then get on the A9 turn into dunkeld over the bridge and the hotel is on the left (car park entrance is just past the hotel).
Enjoy your trip I really like the A7 it's a good fun route.
Thanks Seth, that's settled then :onya:
Nearer the time give me an idea of the north part of the route and approx times as I might come meet you north of Edinburgh and take you all through fife and a couple of back roads to dunkeld instead of you sitting on the motorway .
Depending on timings. We have a table booked at 7.30 for all with a surprise at the end.

Oooh Dear..
Ask any of my mates about me and filtering and you will see I am NOT a fan of it !
I am thinking of leaving home around 10am..
But can be crack of dawn if you want.
I am perfect with early starts but not so good at late nights..
S
You'll really enjoy the ride up I'm sure .
It can get busy at the busy times around Edinburgh and Glasgow .I'd rather come up on A roads rather than motorways.but if times getting tight then motorways are go.
From Nottingham I can get here in 6 hours on the roads I've mentioned .
Remember you've got big fuel tanks so only need to stop when you want .
I am going for an early start too,
Leave on Wednesday ;)

If I told you it wouldn't be a suprise
:whistling: :stir:
Surprise!
Table top dancing in just kilts and snoods?
It'll be a fecken Haggis! You guys are gonna have to eat Haggis!
Give me a Paua any day.
Haggis is still in season but not for hunting only for eating .
I'm a mega fussy eater but actually like haggis (Only wild ones not farmed as that's cruel)
If you've never tried it you should .
That's not the surprise tho .
:stir: :whistling:
That's like sayin ya should try Black Pudding or White Pudding if you've never tried it. No thanks. No doubt there'll be a few over that way that like them though.
I must admit once upon a time I had not tried Haggis..
Partly because I had never had the opportunity and partly because I really did not like the sound of it..
Then I had the chance and discovered I REALLY liked it!
For you who have never tried it I can say its similar to spicy sausage..
If its on offer I will have it for sure.
S.
Haggis, two slices of Stornaway black pudding topped with 2 lightly poached eggs,,,heaven..
Haggis is one of those things that sounds crap but is actually really nice when you eat it. Can you think of any other thing you thought sounded crap but turned out to be good :whatever:
Well im sorry
@seth but it looks like me and Lisa cant do both nights but we will defiantly be there on the Saturday morning , its a pain but but we've used our holidays up for the trip to America in November :frustrated: .

would love to come Seth but just a little too far from here - over 500 miles but considering I have only done 700 miles since my last MOT Lol - did look at flights and then hire a bike at £100 a day ...... :)
Hopefully another time then buddy .
If I had my other bike14 on the road is say come up in the car and use it but it'll not be ready in time .
I dont know if this will work on your computers but it works on mine..
I contacted Seth with regards to the proposed route so that I could (in theory) create a GPX file.
Thanks Seth.
Hopefully it attaches to this post and that your software can read it..
Its my first time at creating such a thing..
Works for me :onya:
I know where I'm going ( bet I get us lost ) :stir:
It kind of works on my mobile phone app but looks great on the screenshot speedy sent to me .
If anyone needs it for TomTom then try these. I've had to zip them as the extensions aren't allowed to be uploaded here.
Most Tomtoms should use the one that ends New.ov2, but if that doesn't work then try the other.
Really looking forward to this meet guys n gals. My 1st real test of my (ahem) not the GSX and I'm sure I'm gonna get some beef (or haggis) abuse. Can we get all the "what happened to the 4th cylinder" or "where's the engine" remarks over quickly so I can to the beering?
I still don't know where to head for or where staying but I'll look up soon as.
I'm taking a few days either side too to get about a bit. 1st nite in Leeds with family then with you guys then I think 2 more days to explore!!!
Seth.... I'm buying you your 1st pint... don't dare have a jar unless I've handed it to you.
Stoli (ole only 3 pistons on me wagon)
In theory you could possibly meet Red Biker and I at Carlisle. .
But thats not set in stone..
I am thinking of leaving extra early to avoid traffic if I opt for the bridge version of the route..
So in fact I'm not actually a lot of help !! :whistling:
I'll be staying over in Garforth, Leeds with family on thurs nite and setting off from there fri morning.
Suppose I'll be on the road by 10 and might take a right n go up past Newcastle or maybe not. I'm aiming to get to digs between 5 n 6.
ShitShowerShave and straight into the bar.....
Table is booked for 7.30
For all that are coming on the Friday night .
Depending on your timings ECT I'll hopefully come meet up with some/most of you on the Friday afternoon.
Still 1 bed in a twin room if anyone has a mate wanting to come up and help hooli save some cash .
The other twin room will be cancelled if not needed at the weekend .
I'm really hoping the trees last as they are just starting to go mental colours .
Should be in full amazingness by the time you lot get here .

Sounds like a plan RedBiker. Just need to work on a Place and time that's going to be OK for all and make sure we hit the same spot about the same time. Doncaster to Leeds looks to be about an Hour so you should be near my route by 10am. Ill be in Garforth so easily pick up the A1 again. I suppose the sensible thing would be to pick a Service Stn on the A1 after Garforth?
Stoli
Keep posting where you might meet near Leeds lads, I might join you as I'm possibly not going to Mrs Hooli's place the night before now.
Looking forwards to seeing the infamous "Hooli"..
Must be the name you have given yourself on here...
About 25 years ago when i started using the t'interwebs Hooligoon seemed to make sense as a trouble making idiot, it's got shortened over time.
I would have thought 'Goon' would have been more appropriate :happy1:
There is a Moto Services just North of Wetherby if that any good @ Stolichnaya

That ride around Middleton / Teesdale I have done several times..
Though usually following a mate with a built in tomtom in his head.
As you say, a lovelly area.
If I get chance I'll time it on google. I can create a tomtom/garmin route file for people if they want too.
I use 'Tyre' which is free to download & pretty good for route planning, it'll even copy the file to your twat-nav & then you just select it as an itinerary.
Sorry
@Proteous I did start this thread back in Feb loads of dates were discussed we tried to get August/September dates but again didn't work out so 1st weekend in October was agreed .
Unfortunately thing always clash for someone thus is just the best I could do for as many as I could.
If we do it again I'd want it to be a bit earlier .
:frustrated:
Thanks Mr Hooli....
Any routes that minimizes motorways are good...
If we take time (ish) then its not a problem.
I went to Anglesey and back in a day from home quite comfortably and that was 385 miles in total.
S
That's a good distance Speedy. Ya must be 'bike fit' now. :onya:
How about this? It uses the A1 till Scotch Corner still but then avoids main roads as much as possible. I hope you like corners
https://goo.gl/maps/8zH1sz4VsJJ2
It's 289miles & just under 6 hours according to Tyre. Google is showing 7 hours, but that'll include delays from weather today. Let me know if you want it for TomTom or Garmin, I'll add more waypoints to stop the twat-nav cheating & then upload it.
Hooli... don't want to distract from this thread but when you mentioned differences between tyre and google maps... I also get differences in times when loading an itn file to the tom tom... can be as much as 15% diffference.. you experience that as well?
I've got a Garmin but yes.
As I understand it, you only load the waypoints not the route itself. So google calculates a route between the points using it's algorithms/traveling speed etc and those will differ from the ones your sat-nav uses.

It is a long 7 hours but some great roads but not fast roads .
If your running short of time I'd pop across the kincardine bridge and up the A977 to the M90 and on up to Perth then back on the A9 to dunkeld .
That looks a great run up north hopefully you guys can sort out meeting on route .
Depending on things I'll head down towards sterling and meet up with you guys too.
I figured they were talking of Weatherby services for 9am, so that's 4pm without stops. Maybe 6pm after lunch & petrol stops.
You come up enough to know if things are getting tight for time you can take faster roads so I'm sure you'll have no problems .
Only thing is add is fuel stops take a bit of time too if there is a group of you .
I'm not even sure I'll be with them yet, but that didn't take long to do.
But as you say, it's easy enough to skip a few waypoints so the twat-nav picks faster roads if needed.
It could be getting a tad complicated!!!
I'll be leaving Garforth about 10am. Probably just sit on A1 up to the bash as I want a shitShowerShave n hit the bar!!
Heck... I might even get dressed before the bar bit but let's see ...
Hooli
You have made up a brilliant route..
The nearest place for me to meet you (without me heading back down South) would be Alston..
Pick a spot in Alston (Its not a big place) and give me an approximate time and I shall be there "afore ye"..
In one way I am NOT in touch with my feminine side cos I am punctual !! :stir:
Slightly outside Alston is the remains of a burned down well known bikers cafe..
The owners have set up a mobile cafe till the original is rebuilt..
Large car park and a brew / food ??
https://www.visitcumbria.com/evnp/hartside-pass/
Expand the map lower down the page on the link..
What do you think?
Its a small detour in the scheme of things..
Aye that could work, as you say it's not far off route.
Explains why I'd heard Hartside had shut, I didn't know it'd burnt down.

Just had a re think about where to meet you all.
I am trying to fit in with the majority so how about I meet you at either the "Holiday Inn Darlington (Scotch Corner) in the car park or a little further on, on the A66 at the "Sedbury Layby"..
The screen shot photo should make it clear..
The A66 seems to be a common venue for both Mr Hooli and Mr Red Biker / Stoli..
I just need you guys to agree on an approximate time so I can calculate backwards for my set off time.
Its about 90 miles for me to that point so I would like to top up the fuel within say 50 miles after the meet up.

I vote for the cafe, I normally stop there as it's decent food.
Right assuming it's the cafe (not that it makes much difference to this). It's about 5hrs from there to the meet, so would leaving about 11-12 make sense? should get us to the meet by 5-6pm even allowing for fuel stops etc.
It's about 45mins from Weatherby services where meeting up with others was suggested so how about 10am at Weatherby services. Eat at the cafe on the A66 & then head up with a fuel stop on the way. Plus another fuel stop near the hotel of course so we're full for the ride out on the saturday.
I'll do tomtom/garmin files from the A66 onwards as I'm sure we can all manage to go north on the A1, turn left on the A66 & stop half a mile up the road in the first layby that's dead easy to see.
There is a Tesco on the north side of Perth that'll be great for your last fuel stop before dunkeld.

Have I got that correct ?
Being earlier is not a problem if required.
S.
Sounds correct to me Speedy, lets see if Stolly wants to join us. It should be about the same time he's heading up anyway.
Anyone else who wants to join is welcome too of course.
I did get the impression that Red McBiker wanted to meet up..
Come in McRed..
are you receiving ?
Stoli probably going just head north .
@Red Biker is at the football tonight I'm sure he'll be along to sort out with you guys .
I'll see what time I'm kicked out of my cousins house. They all go to work Friday morning so I'll need to leave when they do. If I'm close to timing I'll hang st the meet place.
If I'm out at 8 or something I'll just ride on up guys
Okies dokies. I'll get the routes uploaded from that layby over the weekend with a bit of luck & add the last petrol stop as suggested by
@seth
All sounds good to me guys!
11:00 at the cafe on the A66, it's a date!
I'll be the one on the Black bike :onya:
I should add at this point I'm not a religious man but maybe we should recite this before dinner

Today is gorgious weather in crappy Blackpool. .
Lets hope its the same next Friday.

Long range forecast I've seen says 13 degrees and cloudy! I'd take that all day long
The long range forecast a few weeks ago wasn't looking very good at all.
The current forecast looks quite good for a change.
Sun and clouds with a small chance of a light shower .
So all should be great for those with camera's I'm off up to aviemore this weekend I'm might just post a couple of teaser photos if I get the chance.
Excellent. I've booked the following week off as I've still got leave to use up. Gonna visit the outer Hebrides as not been there since I was a kid. Hoping for some northern lights if I'm really lucky.
Not the hills up here but this is the borders just now.
stunning!! really makes me miss home :cry2:

I am off work till the following Thursday (11th)..
Blime.. Outer Hebrides sounds a mega distance !
The Hebrides is a long way from you
@Speedy1959 remember that has starting from half way there being up in the highlands.
I can give some great tips on where to go if anyone is mot heading straight home .

Update
Spoken to the hotel today so info update.
Rooms will be available from 2pm (we'll be there mid afternoon) might head to meet up with folk coming north.
Check-in will close at 10pm
The table for 9 on Friday night is booked for 7pm (Sorry I thought it was 7.30pm)
So ideally get there at 6.30 at the latest to make sure you can get sorted and relax before the meal.
If anyone looks like they'll be mega late give me a shout and I'll get something sorted to make sure you get food on the Friday.
Lol I have just noticed somewhere on the A686 just past Alston called "Mount Hooley Lodge"
It must be a sign...
Thanks Seth for the latest update Re Hotel
Nice new set of PR4's going on tomorrow morning in prep for this bash.
Can't wait for a good ole hootenanny!!
My 1st proper treck on the 1050
Well depending on the weather i could be on the guzzi but if weather is good then its the 14 we shall see ?
I have mot and new angels going on tomorrow, hopefully no issues and ready to rock on Friday :boogie2:
To make sure my bike is ready I spent the day working on my new car
Ready to rock
Stoli thats a nice tiger and i looked at one before i bought the guzzi but its not the best bike for the misses to get on the back of , but i think there one of the best looking street adventure bikes out there :onya:

It's for hangin undercrackers from to air them after you've worn them a few days. Very handy
The hills looking from aviemore today .
That earlier photo was pretty stunning Seth.
5 mins later
It's really lovely up here .
MOT delayed until Mon as he was going to fail it on number plate and I couldn't find my original!
Same garage passed it last year!
That's all they'll need to retest tho change number plate get tested then when home change it back .
There are lots if new daft things you can fail on in the updated mot test that's just came in this year.
Not a bike but my mates pickup failed and got a probation notice so not able to drive on the road because of faded indicator lenses.
The new test is going to catch slot of people out.
:frustrated:
Hang on those roads look damp
@seth, I never ride my 14 in the rain :whistling:
It's not next week yet :frustrated:
Just getting the rain showers out of the way before you lot arrive .
Hopefully there will be snow on top of the hills for some fab pictures.
Forecast looking ok for Saturday and start if the week after .
I'm just trying to sort the twat-nav routes for getting up, but my twat-nav is refusing to turn on even though it says charged, bloody thing.
Just totally flat, panic over. Now installing updates & I'll get the routes uploaded after that. I'd better plan the rest of my week too, especially as I'll be fixing the Saab for it's MOT retest on weds evening.
Route up attached, starting from Sedbury layby. I've tweaked the end to go to Tesco in Perth for fuel so we're full ready for the morning.
Most tomtom users should need the ov2 file, the other is for really old units - according to the internet anyway.
That looks a great route
If your needing a stop for lunch I'd recommend
the camien cafe in Rochester it's on the A68 and your route goes past the door just after my favourite bit of road (over the up and road as we called it as children) from where you join it to the Scottish border and beyond.
I've been out today and the weather was good to start with though very windy and pretty cold..
I've decided that on Friday I shall put on my water proofs regardless of what the weather is doing at my house..
That way, if I wear waterproofs then it wont rain and you lot will have a dry ride..
But if I don't wear them, it will Pee down !
Thank you Hooli for taking the trouble to create the Tom Tom files..
My Car Tom Tom has accepted your itinerary files..

MOT delayed until Mon as he was going to fail it on number plate and I couldn't find my original!
Same garage passed it last year!
Mine also failed initially but the place made me a new plate then and there so past it..
I did buy the bike from them so I suppose thats why they just replaced it without asking me !
How come you guys can get a new plate made up? ??? Can't do that down this way.
It's the vehicle here gets a registration for its life .
So you can have replacement number plates made using that vehicles number.
You can still but personal plates from the government but that replaces the original number .
We pay road tax each year we used to have to display a tax disc on the vehicle but they stopped have to get and show the disc a couple of years ago. Still need to pay the tax tho.
The other things every vehicle needs is an mot(road worthiness test/inspection.
And the driver needs to have insurance .
Different countries have different systems if paying to use the roads but that's how it works in the uk.
Thx Seth, similar here. We pay an annual or monthly 'registration' fee which allows you to ride on the road & WOF, warrant of fitness to say it's roadworthy. The odd bit for me is the local garage can whip up some new plates while it's in there?
Why would they need to do that anyway? What's wrong with the plate that's on there that it needs a new one? faded & can't be read by speed cameras?
Our plates never change unless you put a personalised plate on.
Normally a new plate is needed as someone has fitted a smaller than legal one, or it has a silly font.

I'm glad they work. It's no hassle for me once I create the route for my Garmin I just do a 'Save as' and pick the Tomtom file format.
If you fancy doing your own then download Tyre, it's free. Almost identical to google maps to use so pretty simple to pick up.
The gpx file even works on the app on my phone

So 2 sleeps to go and all is well .
A wee update .
The weather is looking good for the weekend maybe a short (ninja)shower but nothing to much for most of Scotland.hopefully we'll miss them.
When coming north on the A9 the first turn signed birnam/ dunkeld goes through the village of birnam(before reaching dunkeld) is having the high street resurfaced (might be finished by the weekend) there is also a petrol station in birnam but it's not the cheapest.
Might be better to take the 2nd turn into dunkeld as this is the main route into the town. Once over the bridge the hotel is on the left near the end of the street.
Anyone wishing to join us for the run please be at the Royal dunkeld hotel by 10am as I plan to leave for the ride out at 10.30. All are welcome please arrive with a full tank of fuel.
Fuel stop I'm thinking of a fill up in aviemore as that's 100 miles from the start .
Other stops
braemar to meet up with
@shanered6 and his Mrs.
Tomintoul the car park behind the old fire station cafe (probably lunch stop).
Over the road is the whisky shop to beat them all (beware the top shelf starts at £2500 A bottle)
And other tourist shops.
Aviemore
stretch of legs and fuel stop.
(Also if we are really early to tomintoul lunch stop)
Pitlochry
Final stop if wanted for tourist stuff .
Other stops for photos as required.( is anyone taking a go pro and or good camera so we can add on a report here)
Table booked for all of us at 7pm on Friday evening at the Royal dunkeld hotel.
Saturday evening meal can be at hotel or anywhere else but nothing is arranged as time we get back isn't guaranteed.
There is a good choice of places to eat from cheap(chip shop) to expensive resteraunts in the village and area.
The hotel does have a drying room for anyone arriving on Friday with wet kit( think it's going to rain over the borders on your way up north)
We should have an area set aside to park behind the hotel for all the bikes.
Ride safe and enjoy
See you Friday.
Above and beyond the call of duty Seth.
I am looking forwards to meeting you mate.

I had tried to convince management to go to the Classic TT then meet up with you lot. Of course reason prevailed as a month was not enough time to put the trip together. So its to be next year.

well me and lisa got back ok but Omg it just p*ss*d it down for the first 60 miles and poor Lisa was soaked ! ( i think its time for some new gear for Lisa ) , i was bone dry apart from wet nether regions !.
But it didn't dampen a great time and a good bunch of people to go for a spin with and not to mention @blubbers epic high milage 3 day trip :worshippy:.
Here's a couple of pics of the bikes !
It's been slightly moist all the way to Uig too. At one point I was down to 40mph and still couldn't stay on my side of the road in places.
If anyone knows Silacghan then you'll know the river is slightly high in these.

Had a great weekend. Good laff in a fantastic place. I'd avoid the curry house tho unless you like bones and plastic bits in ya food!!!
I reached the Lake District at 4 having ridden in also very challenging conditions. Wind was awful (that'll be the curry!!) and rain
Tiger 1050 has really surprised me. A very complete package.

The scottish meeting 2018 report .
Me and Emma arrived at the Royal hotel in dunkeld around 3.30pm on Friday closely followed by
@Blubber (who had came over from the Netherlands on Wednesday evening's ferry so headed to near Skye on Thursday.
Friday he did a loop of Skye before heading to dunkeld) at around 4pm .
We got our rooms sorted and waited in the bar to see who would be next .
Around 5pm
@Red Biker with his mate mike( on his triumph street triple) and
@Stolichnaya .we got thier rooms sorted and back to the bar.
Around 6pm
@Hooli and
@Speedy1959 arrived .
We got thier rooms sorted and all went for a very fine meal in the hotel and some good laughs and a few beers and the surprise of the hotel giving us a discount so everyone got some cash back from thier room bookings.
Saturday morning .
We woke up to a chilly misty morning with the bikes covered in frost.
We had breakfast and got ready for the rideout.
Just before 10am
@Yoda appeared in time for the ride out.
We left just after 10am and after some acrobatics from my bike just as I left the hotel we had a steady run north after about 20 mins it started to warm up nicely .
We got to braemar around 11am and had a cuppa while we waited for
@shanered6 and his Mrs Lisa.
At braemar
@Yoda had to head back south .
We set off north and after some amazing little roads and the lecht (2 of the highest roads in scotland) before arrivining in tomintoul where we stopped at the old fire station for lunch.
Then heading west we went to aviemore via Grant in on spey. We had a fuel stop in aviemore.
Then we headed south keeping to the old A9 as much as possible via kingussie and newtonmore then over the drumochter pass another if Scotland highest roads on the A9 though some of the most dramatic scenery. We then turns back onto the old A9 via killiecrankie and pitlochry before finally riding through the tree lined roads back to dunkeld.
We parked up got sorted out and headed back to the hotel bar .
The Friday night folk went for a curry(stoli got a bad batch and the owner manager didn't handle it very well I think everyone's food was ok )
@shanered6 and Lisa eat at the hotel.
Then we had a couple more drinks and more of a catch up with everyone.before heading off to bed.
We woke Sunday to a dull but still dry morning.
After a good breakfast we all got packed paid out bills (bar bills) and said our goodbye's and departed @shanerd6 headed back northeast
@Hooli headed west to continue his adventure. Then
@Blubber left to head to Newcastle for his ferry home.
Me and Emma along with @redbiker,mike and @speedy headed south us turning off and going home just after Perth the rest heading south .
Hope that was ok as a write up .Hopefully do it all again sometime .
Great people, fab bikesbrilliant roads and amazing scenery.
Finally a big thanks to the Royal Dunkeld hotel in dunkeld for looking after us so well .

Great pics & write up Seth :onya:
It wouldn't have been worth any of it without the people who came along wether for all or just part if the weekend as they made it into the fantastic time it was.
Cheers to all who came hopefully we'll do it again sometime soon.
Queen Victoria stayed there in 1854 according to a blue plaque on the front wall.
Probably not in the chalets though.
It was a great day well done and thank you Seth for all your efforts :hat:i it was just a pity I had to cut out early but it was good to finally put some faces to the names same again next year. :clapping:

Ye we had a great time and took in some of the the best roads and land scapes you will see anywhere and for the most part the weather held .
A big thanks to Seth and Emme for all the organisation and root plans :onya:

The ferry will port in about an hour.
End conclusion: Scotland and Skye are very nice places to discover by bike.. Even in October... When it can freeze
Owww...
@Speedy1959..( And probably others too) sorry to burst your bubble regarding my screenname VS real life :rofl2:
Can't live up to everyone expectations
Now Ted
@Red Biker .did you eventually pass the dutchy on the left hand side? ( Mike told me your plan) :onya:
Jeez! Yer sack would be bloody cold sitting on that!
Thanks from me as well Seth and Emma for arranging and doing the bookings with the hotel.
Blubber does not do himself justice..
I was expecting a 6'7" gorilla of a biker..
Instead I met a 6'7" slim thoroughly decent guy !
The roads on the ride out on Saturday were just about the best I have been on !
Brilliant choice of route Seth.
I wont repeat photos that are already on here but I will add a few that aren't..
1st shows a great place to live if you dont like people or neighbours..
2nd err shows a certain Stoli in search of PLASTIC ahem ahem.. (The group will know what I mean).
I forgot to add the route for the rideout .

Chewy !!
I have been known to give off a very light almost inaudible faint tweet as I sleep.
It can't be that loud as I never hear it!!
Just for info
The lecht road we went up on the way to tomintoul us currently closed due to snow.
Sa.e month as our chilly but nice ride around the hills.
