Title: Fuel Cap
Post by: Notty on Monday, 29 January 2018, 06:44 PM
My tank will be back in the next week or so all repaired and gleaming new paint - tried to freshen up the old fuel cap but it looks so drab so........found these two but which to choose - Oberon is top quality but £80 and the other is £44.
votes please  :smile2:

You could always fit this (using double sided tape) to your standard cap Geoff. Add some blue petrol cap screws from Probolt as well to give it some colour. Had this on mine and was very happy with it.

Plus you keep your lockable cap..... :onya:

i agree with Barmy, thats what i have. dont like either of your choices.

I prefer a lockable fuel cap on a 'daily driver' so I'd go with the suggestion made by barmy.

I have red bolts on my cap they look awesome.

I am leaning towards the Oberon, I have their risers and quality is excellent  :)

I'd go with Dave's recommendation. Prevents some evil person to piss in your tank or, worse, throw some sugar in it.

What colour though? bike is B/W (fastest model) but maybe red?  :smile2:

Blue as long as the tone is not far off the blue in your bike. I hate different shades. Don't know if this would be so with xx shades of grey, as never seen :rofl2: but certainly with all other colors it turns me off.

Neither is my cup of tea. If I didn't lock it, some scrote would fill it with gravel and mud  :jack:. But if you have to, Oberon all the way  :onya:

Black is not a color - it is the absence of color. Ask any physicist and he will set you straight. :coffeescreen:

i must disagree @Andre
everything was black once upon a time so it must be faster than the speed of light.
:stir:
it just take that 1 big step into the light that followed and join the rest of us  :happy1:

Post by: Andre on Wednesday, 31 January 2018, 12:17 AM
Sorry Seth but that black was called VOID which is a synonym for emptiness, vacuity, vacancy, blankness, bareness, nothingness, emptiness, nonentity, nil. Black sucks up any light that it can get and can never get enough to fill its emptiness. The light speeds to it but the black just stays where it is. :stir:

Seth (and Red) are right, as the good book says, first there was dark, then came the light.    See,   Light came second place to the dark.  :stir: :whistling:   :onya:

Hmm well the absence of something general makes it weigh less, therefore black bikes are faster. Makes sense.

Is black void of colour?
Black is a colour, the perception of which is evoked by the total absence of light that stimulates any of the three types of color sensitive cone cells in the human eye and with very low brightness compared to the surroundings. A black visual stimulation will be void of hue and grayness.

and then we have . . .

1. Black is not a colour; a black object absorbs all the colors of the visible spectrum and reflects none of them to the eyes. The grey area about black: A black object may look black, but, technically, it may still be reflecting some light.

Buggered if I know??  :whatever:  but I've got a B/W and a 'void?' in the garage.   Just ask Red, he's the authority on this subject.

Whilst the black one is still recovering I do hope its in isolation as we would not like to see it catch some rust or other corrosive disease from the second choice Blue and White imposter....... :stir:

Thanks for the info Col Putting the Science to one side, I like to refer to B&W as Black bikes that have 'come out'

My Bandit fuel cap id the same as the GSX1400..I took it all apart, got a sheet of plate glass and wet n dry paper and "Sanded" the grooves out of the main part and then mirror polished it.
When I stripped my GSX and rebuilt it last year I was going to do the same...Couldn't drive the roll pins out for love nor money :furious:
I gave up in the end because I didn't want to destroy it. It still bugs the hell out of me

Make it Gold Notty, then there'll be no 'discussion' about the subtle shades of light n dark.

the fuel cap cover from CCDF looks good. imo. had mine for a long time. just choose whatever colour bolts. i have their top yoke cover and sprocket cover . just beautiful. few yrs now, they keep their shine quite easily. top yoke with polished bar risers, i like. might order the polished triangles for side covers. just brighten up the covers a bit. top quality stuff.

The vinyl wrapping is so good I had assumed you had it sprayed.

No problem Speedy, hopefully in the next 2 weeks, just waiting on wheels and shocks.
I love the wrap but had to do the tank in 3 pieces so there is a join, thought about covering it with a decal but I wanted the minimalist look so probably live with it. All other bits are perfect 👌🏼
