Title: Pro Bolt
Post by: Red Biker on Tuesday, 23 January 2018, 12:14 AM
Hi Guys,
Some of you like me will probably spend too long browsing the PB site, it's a dangerous habit in that you can run up a huge bill in no time at all for what appears to be very little!

I have a particular 'thing' for Black bolts (come on Kiwi's give it your best shot )

So I have been searching for a more economical alternative that will do the job, I've found these guys who do a range of Black Stainless at what appear to be bargain prices compared to PB.

https://www.carbolts.co.uk/collections/bolts/products/black-stainless-steel-hex-head-flange?variant=39702375299

Rather than diving in, I've done a bit more research on materials, tensile strength and corrosive resistance etc and have to say they stand up quite well compared to PB. They are A2 as opposed to the Marine grade A4 but quite suitable for fair weather riders like moi  :smiley-music002:

The site below is an idiots guide to stainless which gives the details in a straight forward simple way.

I'm going to order a set for my new Calipers and see what they are like, bonus is they also come in Red so I could have both sets for half the price of a single set from PB

What do you think???

Them A4 certainly look shinier (on the pics) than the A2 (no Red, not talking about the red and black).

I bought a cheap box from Halfords but they are not stainless so only use them on unimportant non exposed areas👍

And little Red things  :embarassed:

@ Kiwifruit any Pro bolt bits I've bought previously go in the Halfords packaging to keep Mrs Red off the scent!

I had a kit for my new/old GSX750 turn up today, it was well priced and looks to be OK quality. It's A2 stainless, not sure if this guy sells black.

so ended up buying from both Car Bolt and Kays

Kays Black 10 x M10 Cap head 45mm high tensile 12.9 (for shocks, blocks, linkage at rear break and maybe rear caliper pinch as well) ..........................................£3.65 ffs inc postage  :boogie: got the 10 x nuts to go with them for a grand total £5.35  :notworthy:

Compare this to Pro Bolt, who admitidly do have a nice Dome head but are circa £4 per bolt  :frustrated:

Off Car bolt I bought the Black hose clips and 16mm Black buttons for belly pan etc

Even though I've spent I feel like I've saved a fortune!

If anyone wants a set of stainless Pro bolt hex head for calipers including pinch and mount let me know  :salute:
