78 GS1000
In my youth, this was my dream machine, the one that got away.
Love the GS1000..I don't half miss mine.
It's actually back in Oz now...
That GS1000E got to be one of the best looking bikes suzuki made unfortunately i never owned one :bugga: but i did have the 550 and two 750's.... good bikes !
Love the GS1000's, probably why I still own one and also love the 1400 too, might have to give back the seat of mine to the Michelin Man and get a proper one, it looks terrible..
Funnily enough froudy, I owned one when I lived in North Wales but it's probably still there not in Oz  Or long gone, they weren't really "collectable" back then.. I sold it to a bloke from Prestatyn when I left the UK...
I had a 550 for a few years too, buggered off to the South of France on that one, it was a good trip once it stopped pissing down, then we all got badly sunburnt... :boogie: :boogie:

i had a GS1000EC for 8 years
did 100000 miles on it
changed/upgraded it loads.
gsx11efe upgraded fork springs.
katana brakes(discs/calipers) and swingarm
1100cc wiseco kit .
barnett clutch and springs.
30mm carbs with pod filters and re-jet kit.
dyna ignition and coils.
splitfire spark plugs later changed to 4 spark audi plugs.
koni dial-a-ride shocks.
twin headlight handlebar fairing.
bar-end mirrors.
Harris works exhaust.
oh and it was painted ford signal yellow.
had usual starter clutch charing problems but only broke down once where i couldn't get it home.
the one bike i shouldn't have ever sold.
I know what you mean i wish i could have some of my bikes back now but theres no way i could afford them now :bugga:

Just look at the price of a Yam FS1E's now..
They were changing hands when I was at school for £100-150...You wouldn't get a ratty one now for less than £2k

I know my first bike was a GT 125 with a 185 engine in it and i payed £80 for it and my first bike when i passed my test was a GT380 and i only payed £200 for that ! ... i'd be lucky to buy the wheel for that know !!
Yeah, my FS1E cost me 50 quid from the bloke across the road, then 200 quid on an rd200, onto a new 250LC after blind arse in a car knocked me of the 200, bought the 250LC with the payout, where are you now XFM23W?? Is Dugdales at Alvanley? still going?
Then onto a 350LC, Early KH400, CB250RS, GS550 and then the GS1000 after a working holiday to Oz for 3 and 1/2 years..
Sounds cool, Seth . I did the Koni's thing, tapered head bearings and a micron fork brace on mine, made a big difference.. Didn't touch the motor tho.. :)
A mate had a GS1000 engined Harris Magnum too, that was so nice..
Kawasaki has redone the Z900. I wonder , Cmon suzuki, an updated GS1000 would be cool...
A re done GS1000 would be brilliant, but only if they did it properly!
we have the best redone gs1000 in the gsx1400
just wish they'd give us a newer proper muscle bike with a big motor, twin shocks and a big tank
but upside down forks, radial calipers and a none bendy frame .
Agree 100% re the 1400, I thought the GSX1000S thing may have been more retro looking but I guess yah can't please everyone... Not sure i like them, no doubt a great bike but the styling isn't for me.. personal choice an all that, here's my current 1400 anyways. :worshippy:
1400z, beautiful bike, same as mine, k7. all the suzuki ive had were brilliant. first was 1968 250 hustler, 6 speed , rev all day. 4 gt750, my l model i ported, built expansion chambers, just a rocket, wish id dynoed it. had a 550, great bike. gs1000g, loved it, marzocki suspension both ends, custom made 4 into 2, sounded unreal, could easily do 1000ks in a day. gsx1100, just awesome trouble free weapon.lots more power than gs but used way less fuel. 14 is a combination of all those bikes. far better, just ride n smile when i get home. i did tonight. 3 grandkids up on fence giving the thumbs up, does life get better. not for me.
Ive always had a soft spot for suzi's and ive had well over 100 bikes in my time and i would say 60% of them were suzi's for me they just have somethink a bit differant from the other big 3 .
