Hi guys, my new gsx has had an akra fitted front to back, how much weight will have been saved by ditching the standard exhaust and headers? Hes fitted a power commander and a map to suit, he says he was advised to leave the standard airfilter in place as a k+n loses power, i think it must be making around 120bhp now? Is this a good guess?
Thanks
saves loads of weight not sure how much but its a lot.
the mods your doing should give you around 115bhp .
Yep with just the Akra you'd be looking at around the 115-118 bhp
What about the air filter? Is it better left standard?
better left standard.
you really need to go look through the threads as this was discussed only a few days ago.

Standard down pipes + collector in my K2 was 9.3 kg. (Exhaust manifold + turbo + down pipe are 9.1 kg).
And original air filter is better than K&N.
Aren't the originals around a tonne each!
K2 standard cans are 10 kg. Add a few gramm as the PO has butchered the baffle-system by taking out the 3 short tubes. Still hoping to restore them some day as they are good outside. Got some nice low (2k) standards for 100€. The butchered ones were just way loud.
K2 standard cans are 2 x 5.85 kg = 11.7 kg + standard down pipes and collectors 9.3 kg = 21 kg total system.

Full Akrapovic with titanium end is about minus 12 kg from standard.
12 kg is a lot. You need 3 to 4 hp more to move your bike as fast as the lighter one! (depends on your weight)
My mistake ... 14kg is right.
