Title: Insurance
Post by: Tally on Sunday, 07 January 2018, 07:00 AM
Bloody Bennetts !!! Sent me a renewal quote saying they are cheaper than last year, so I checked and they were right by £4, £297-293. Suffice to say I went online and looked around and hey'ho I am now with Devitts for a princely sum of £83 fully comp, with no loss of my 9yrs ncb and with all the extras I've included. Moral of this story "shop around ".

I'll just add something about making claims regardless of which company you claim against. Whatever they offer you it isn't enough and squeal about it.
12 years ago my bike was written off after being hit by a car. The day of the collision I had been offered $3000 trade on my ZZR1100 at he BMW shop. The Insurance compny offered me $10,000, I squealed about how I'd bought it new, kept it maintained and cleaned and I wanted it replaced with a new Bike. They sent it to their claim disputes, offered me an extra $500 which I accepted straight away.
$500 for having a sulk on the phone is good value.

Besides sulking on the phone, getting an independent expert certificate might be worth it.

The lists the insurance companies go by are much lower than actual used bike/car dealer prices. I checked for my 14 and the difference comes to a 2000 Euros.

Had one lucky chap (without getting independent certificate) get as much from the insurance as he paid for the 14 many years ago with lots of mileage added.
