Ice is a form of methamphetamine. First synthesized in 1893 by a Japanese chemist. It was widely used by German soldiers in WWII. Called Pervitin. It was used by east and west German soldiers up into the 1970s. After that they used some different pep pill - still an amphetamine. One of our chancellors (Adenauer) used it. Wrote about it in his personal journal. Pervitin was to be had in pharmacies until 1988.

Drugs are pervasive worldwide. See the current massive use of Heroin in the USA. Yes, everyday millions of drivers are under the influence of a drug or a cocktail of several drugs. Some of them even prescribed by a physician. Just be careful when outside. I personally knew several physicians on drugs. Still know one that I (and others) highly suspect of using. Even my mother used (in the 1970s) an amphetamine to work at night and a barbiturate to sleep during the day. Was prescribed to her by a physician.  :frustrated:

Obviously a prob where you are Andre. Lots of knowledge on it. Apparently our epidemic is fuelled by imported chinese meth. We sell them lpg at a 1/10th the price, they reply with meth at same price. We get screwed both ways. Great govt in australia.

My best mate is a Paramedic..
Where I work in Blackpool there is another prevalent drug known as "Spice"..
This quite literally turns the user into a Zombie where they move at 1/20th the normal speed...
My mate says it can literally take the user 10 minutes to sit down !!

On a related subject I can say that there are DEFINITELY more homeless / "Down and outs" sleeping in doorways in Blackpool over the last 2 years or so.
I have worked in Blackpool for 40 years and so I am qualified to note the changes !

spice sounds a good thing compared to ice speedy. on ice they just want to mutilate everyone, super strength. mate works in hospital, one user threw a 100kg attendant across the room like a rag doll. scary stuff.

Hi grog..

Pray I never get into power...
Compulsory euthanasia would be mandatory...

In Blackpool we have a "mobile" police station in the hospital car park to cater for the bloody violent drunks that show how tough they are by attacking hospital staff !!

As you may have read, in the UK the NHS is really stretched to its limit and it could do without the moronic behavior of people "Having a good time" at the weekend !!

I shall climb down from my soap box now..

Took Mrs Notty to A&E in excruciating pain having to take morphine to get her in the car - we had to wait to see a doctor whilst they dealt with the crackheads first - waited over 4 hours - seem druggies and drunks take preference - same as Simon good job i am not in power  :furious: :furious:

i am all for the fixing the drug problem, euthanasia, if thats the name, so be it. 20 yrs ago, my best mate chose to sit in his car, smoke a cigarette and breathe exhaust fumes. heroin addict. only 100ks away, we were blood brothers. he couldve rang me, he didnt. i didnt even go to funeral, he annoyed me so much doing that. the other mate in our trio, never ever saw it that way, because i didnt attend funeral he wiped me also. not sad anymore, just life. many sadder stories than mine.

Meth/ice is a big problem here. Much of it coming in from fuckin China. The importers and trafficers are just oxygen thieves. If l had my way they would never re-offend. Never kill any more innocent people on our roads. Never waste any more oxygen.

Them Chinese need another Mao Zedong.

Opium eradication was one of the most positive legacies of Mao Zedong. By 1956, China was essentially drug free and remained so until his death in 1976.

One of the first things that Mao did was to eradicate opium addiction. He harnessed the Zeitgeist of revolutionary zeal. He portrayed opium addiction as an enemy of the people, and to eradicate drugs was a revolutionary struggle to be carried out by every single person in the nation. People happily complied. This was the reason why it was so successful. The entire society was mobilized to carry out an objective and the execution was decentralized.

The execution and results varied. Some if not most communities were using positive supportive methods to help addicts transition off; it helped greatly that addicts were portrayed as victims instead of criminals, as opium was the enemy not the addicts. But some communities literally executed addicts and dealers. The government also actively pursued and killed kingpins.

Sorry, quick cuts and pastes from the net. Being a bit busy right now. Tough life being single and retired :happy1:

I dont know why we spend so much money trying to cure/educate these tossers, just let them get on with it and withdraw medical treatment, they chose to do it why should we pay to cure it  :furious:
If they are daft enough to inject/inhale a pioson they don't deserve help.

Most drug and alcohol addicts don't seek help. According to a personally known medical director of a rehab clinic, only 11% ever choose to undergo treatment (includes those who have to undergo treatment by court order). Of these many break up treatment and most never stay clean after rehab. The vast majority don't seem to care to ever kick the addiction.

There are many more addicts than official statistics say. Here they did a study of the outlets of water treatment plans. They investigated cocaine-metabolites nation-wide in the treated water and concluded that the number of cocaine addicts appears three times higher than the official statistics say.

That makes me wonder if the statistic of 11% seeking treatment should be more like 4%.

When I consider that there are many other problematic people besides addicts, I am sorry to say that it appears to me that the vast majority of humans populating this earth could be considered trash.
