Title: Whanganui Boxing Day Street Races
Post by: Kiwifruit on Sunday, 24 December 2017, 07:00 AM
Hi all. Getting packed up for a trip to the Whanganui Boxing Day Street Races.
Trying to attach map but not computer savvy enough. Tauranga to Whanganui via Te Awamutu and Taumarunui is 399kms, 5hrs 16mins it says. So a good ride.
Will try to find out the address of the livestream for those that might be interested.
Good line up. I see Lee Johnston, Conor Cummins in the solos and Tim Reeves in the side cars. Looks like a good line up of overseas outfits so looking forward to seeing them.
Usually a good fun trip, bit of a Pilgrimage for those with a leave pass. Will stay in Cambridge with the old boy tonight so I get to see him, my kids and my little grandy tomorrow. Probably have an early lunch head off just before the cages hit the road after midday.

Merry Christmas

Sorry lads just found out its a pay to view deal. ($15.00nz) But here's the site.

I really should get over to see the relatives & do some touring.

Thanks Snapey thats the one.
The road from Taumarunui to Whanganui is a cracker. Just a few little rocks on the road to watch out for !!
Just a few bikes at Taumarunui BP
Anyone with a rugby interest....the Sir Colin Meads statue in his home town of Te Kuiti.
Lookin forward to the racing tomorrow :onya:

Some snaps I took while away. Enjoyed the races. Some of those guys really press on.
Excuse my sidecar fetish, I just love the engineering. This is Carl Cox's bike that Tim Reeves rode.......very quickly.
Love the Honda.
Mt Ruapehu taken from National Park on the way home.

Had a great time, bike ran like a charm.. :onya:

Work of art Col. I'm guessing LCR but with so many chassis constructors around these days I really don't know.

They've certainly changed from a 1988 LCR worm.

Yours would be an F1 bike Pete. Haha, The Worm, hav'nt heard that name for a while. Might be older but the engineering is every bit as good.
This is a short F2 600cc bike. Had a brief word with Tim Reeves, nice bloke, he was saying they only have the F2 600 class at the IOM so he was here getting some miles on it.

Those little 600's must be working hard in an outfit but so reliable seeing the state of tune. No big cubes and torque to get you out of trouble as momentum is now the key to fast lap times with those little donks.
