Title: Tyre deal for Aussie’s
Post by: Sweaty on Friday, 22 December 2017, 04:47 PM
In case anyone else is in need of tyres, I am getting a set of Angel GT, ride in fitted & balanced for $449 from Team moto. (Stores in 3 states)
Very good deal compared to anything else I could find. Also getting them to do the fork oil while it's in there, as I have no idea if it's ever been changed.

Make sure they use the oil/air gap when doing your fork oil also get the nut at the top of the push rod in each fork set to 11mm before they attach the fork top, else you'll have strange handling.

Fork oil is easy and quick to do yourself - see instructions on here - are you sure you want to pay s9meone loads of $ to do it for you?

That's for the info Dave, but I don't have a headstock stand needed, and not that keen on messing with something as important as the forks/handling. However, you are making me very nervous in trusting them to do a proper job now   :confused1:

Sorry that wasn't the intention - however, if you read the article through, at least you can keep an eye on what they do to make sure they do it correctly!

good buying on angels. i paid $500 two yrs back, just fitted new front for $187. rear is quoted at 329. i was happy with that price, yours a winner. not telling what to do with forks, but i am. find a suspension specialist. i did. $400, new wilbers springs, new oil, set and adjusted for my weight. no more adjusting, just work perfectly. best money ive spent. a different bike, totally amazing. doesnt dive at all, floats over bumps, i cant believe how good. i reckon it has a lot to do with fr. angel lasting nearly 20 th ks. r. shocks, same treatment but kept original springs. another 400 well spent. if we load up for weekend now, just up another ring on rear. makes life so easy, bike just perfect. i realise that ohlins etc prob. much better, must be unreal if better. i couldnt justify the cost. cant really remember but somewhere near 2 grand for ohlins r. shocks, i could be way wrong with that figure. just from my old memory bank. worth doing mate.

Even if you fitted Ohlins you would still most likely need someone to set them up. So a little more cost to add on.

That sounds horrendously expensive for tyres compared to what we pay in the uk

I get my own tyres from Oponeo..Pair of Metzeler Roadtech Z6 for about £150..Take the wheels to a local bike shop and pay £10 per tyre fitted..Total £170.

That's approx $295.

And I thought we got ripped off with everything in the UK..Apparently not.

We definitely pay a premium Froudy. Most places were $550 and that didn't include fitting

Thanks Dave & Grog, I think I will leave the fork oil for now & just get the tyres done.
Might get a quote from a suspension specialist & have a think about it.

GC Tyres in South Oz have BT016's for $359 a set fitted, Keithy ( small independant tyre place in Pooraka S. A.) also has them for the same price.. Dunno if either of them would ship?
I know they aren't really touring tyres so probably not real good if you want to go touring or want a long life from them ( Don't we all from our tyres on both counts..) , but they do work well for hills riding..

The new Angels are on  :boogie2:
Thanks for the info OZ, but No way in the world I would be putting on BT016.
Have had 020's & 023's and would never go back to them.
Try Angels if you ever get the chance.
